Grant by Gilbert de Cantebrigia, palmer, to Geoffrey Godard, citizen of London, for 4½ marcs, of half a marc yearly quit-rent issuing from the tenement he had of Edmund, son of Benedict the Bellmaker, in the parish of St. Stephen Coleman-street, London, adjoining St. Stephen's churchyard on the south. The size of the tenement is stated in iron ells of King Henry. Release by Geoffrey Godard to Michael de Sancto Albano, ointer (unctori) of London, for five marcs, of the half-marc yearly quit-rent Michael was wont to pay him for the tenement he holds in St. Stephen's parish, Coleman Street, which formerly belonged to Gilbert de Cantebreg', by demise from whom Geoffrey acquired the said rent. Grant by Adam de Sumeri to Henry son of Reiner, of London, of eight acres of the fee of Alan de Sumeri, which land was Hereward Cobbe's, in exchange for land that was Yvo the prior's (prioris); for which exchange Adam has given Henry a besant of gold. [Middx.] A. 1908. Will of Agnes Bonsergeant. Bequeaths 12d. to the high altar of Holy Trinity, London, 4d. and 2d. to the clerks, and 6d. to the chapel; to Thomas, Isabel, and Matilda her children various pots and dishes of brass, feather beds, &c.; to Joan Godwines her sister a short cloak (courtep) with a hood of medley. The rest of her goods with her houses without the gate of Alegate, London, she leaves to her son Sir Nicholas, to be sold and disposed of. London, Sunday next after St. Lucy the Virgin, A.D.1336.

The buildings are worth 10 marcs, which Baudrey or his heirs are bound to pay the canons if they wish to give up the tenement. Bequeaths to the three hospitals—viz. of St. James, St. Thomas beyond the bridge, and another—half a marc yearly each, and the like amount to each hospital about London, and to the religious houses about London, viz. the nuns of Clerekanwel, Haliwell, and St. Helens, &c. [Middx.] A. 1926. Agreement between Michael Vintner, of St. Albans, and Agnes, late the wife of Stephen le Mirurer, of Bassieshawe. Michael will make a rainwater gutter (stillicidium) of the necessary length and breadth, covered with lead, from the highway to Agnes's palistrum in Bassieshaw parish, between his newly built tenement and hers, and Agnes will repair or find a gutter between their said tenements, so that the droppings from the gutters may not injure their tenements. Agnes shall receive the rainwater flowing from the roof of a certain secret chamber of Michael's near her palistrum in a shaft open to the east, &c. Witnesses:—J. Bequeaths 20s. to the box of the fraternity of his trade; certain cloth to be sold and the proceeds distributed to the poor; 6s. 8d. to the fabric of St. Paul's; to Margaret his wife a plot of land built over, without Algate, and after her decease to his son or daughter, &c. Grant by Richard, the prior, and the convent of Holy Trinity, London, to Geoffrey de Brokesheved, for 100s., of land with buildings thereon in the parish St. Mary Abbecherch, by land of Amice daughter of William, in Kandelwrichtestrate, paying 54s. yearly. Declaration that whereas the Mayor and commonalty of London have in right of the city a yearly rent of 8s. issuing from the tenement of the prior and convent of Holy Trinity within Alegate in the parish of St. Mary Colchirche, and the latter have a yearly rent of 10s. issuing from a tenement of the Mayor and commonalty in the parish of St. Swithin Candelwikstrete: on 13 October, 9 Henry V., William, the prior, and the said convent came into the Common Council before William Cauntbrigge, Mayor, and the commonalty, and desired that if they pulled down a bulging stone wall, enclosing their churchyard, they might put up a new erect wall by taking in a piece of common soil about the middle of the wall 4 ft. 4 ins. wide by 20 ft. long, and they would not exact the said 10s. rent so long as the commonalty allowed them quietly to possess their new wall and did not exact the 9s. rent. The commonalty considering that the leaning wall is ugly and very dangerous to passers by, unanimously granted their requests. 9 Henry V.
