Agreement before Giles (E[gidio]), archdeacon of Berkshire, and W[illiam], rector of the church of Bettlesdene, his official, witnessing the settlement of a dispute between the abbot and convent of Rading, of the one part, and T. rector of the church of Englefeld, of the other, relative to a yearly pension of 1 mark claimed by the said abbot and convent in right of their church of Rading, Sir William de Englefeld, knight, son of Alan de Englefeld, patron of the said church, having interposed in defence of the said cause, and divers letters relative thereto having been obtained from Sir Otho, the legate, it is thus agreed viz. that the right of presentation to the church of Englefeld shall belong to the said Sir William, who, with the said rector, agrees that a yearly pension of 1 mark shall be paid to the said monastery from the said church. Memorandum that the prior of Bernecestre on behalf of himself and his convent, and Henry de Anya, clerk, as proctor of Nicholas, rector of the church of Ambresdon, appeared before the bishop of Lincoln in his chapel of Bannebury, on Saturday before St. Peter ad Vincula, A.D. 1240, to receive judgment in a cause between the said parties relative to certain tithes in the fields of Blakewrn, and that by the bishop's advice, with the consent of the parties, the cause was postponed till the return of Nicholas from abroad &c.

Grant by brother Ralph called the abbot of Mirevall, and the convent there, to the nuns of Kateby, of lands in Great Esseby, viz. a tillage on Warhthou, a tillage extending by Aylthmesty, a tillage of which one end extends towards Osberneswelle, part of a tillage extending by Bradewelle, and land on Neddrewong stretching to Eychul, in exchange for all the lands which the said nuns had on Shepehusflatte in Esseby, between Shardelowe and Pethling, with other land which Robert, vicar of Esseby, held from them, which lands the said nuns held in A.D. 1242, at the time when king Henry the son of king John crossed the sea into Gascony.
