[Warw.] A. 8301. Indenture of demise by Richard Tole of Coventry to Nicholas Skathelok of Coventry, fishmonger (piscarium) and Felicia his wife, for the term of their lives, of two messuages in Coventry, one in Cross Street (vico crucis) between the tenements of John Luyk and Edward le Taillour, extending from the said street to the land of the gild of St. John the Baptist of Coventre, and the other in Waste Garden (wasto gardino) between the tenements formerly Alan Skathelok's and Robert Chilterne's; rendering therefor yearly from the feast of St. Michael the Archangel then next for the first thirty-two years 56s. and to the heirs of John de Franketon of Coventry 4s. and to the prior and convent of Coventre 13d. and keeping the said messuages in good repair, and after the said term of thirty-two years if they survive and wish to continue their tenancy they shall render therefor yearly 100s.; if they died within the said term their heirs and assigns to hold the messuages for the remainder of it. Feoffment by Ralph Paries to John Mallore of Welton of a capital messuage there which he had by the gift and feoffment of John de Welton and which came to the said John de Welton by descent after the decease of his mother, Ellen late the wife of Thomas Martyn of Welton, father of the said John de Welton; also of 2s. rent as the said John de Welton used to receive it from lands there held by John Martyn son of Richard Martyn of Welton. Monday before St. Martin the Bishop, 13 Richard II.
[Warw.] A. 8303. Counterpart of demise by Philip de Alesbury and Agnes his wife to Reginald Ladde of a messuage and land which Walter Kew lately held in Lappeworth; to hold to him, Agnes his wife and Richard their son for their lives in survivorship; rendering to the chief lords the services due and accustomed and to them and their heirs 8s. 1d. yearly, at the terms usual in Lappeworth, and a heriot on the death of a tenant; and doing repairs. Sunday, the morrow of All Saints, 6 Richard II. Seal.

Indenture of demise by Margaret Catesby, lady of Lapworth, widow, to George Assheby, Margaret his wife and John their son, from Michaelmas last for their lives in survivorship, of a tenement called 'Ilaton,' late Walter Slye's, and lands called 'Brokshawe' wherein William Persounes lately had a life estate but had surrendered it and by his charter granted it to the said George; and also of the reversion of other lands called 'Pukland,' expectant on the decease of Margaret Assheby his mother; by the rent of 10s. for 'Ilaton,' 5s. for 'Brokshawe,' 5s. for 'Pukland' and a heriot on a tenant's death; repairs to be done by the tenant. 1 March, 17 Henry VI. Feoffment by Thomas le Reymes of Potton to Sir Thomas Orewelle of Dunton, chaplain, of a messuage, formerly belonging to Juliana Power of Sutton, in the town of Sutton, between tenements late Robert Power's on either side and abutting on the highway called 'le Chyrchewey.' Wednesday after St. Denis and his fellow martyrs, 30 Edward III.

Feoffment by John Drayton of Welton and Joan his wife to John de Catesby and Emma his wife and his heirs, of their estate in a messuage and curtilage they lately had by the demise of Thomas Brynkelow of Coventre, 'typpere,' and Alice his wife. Feoffment by Henry son of Robert le Botiler of Yelvertoft, of full age, to Thomas son of Henry de Craunford of Yelvertoft and Alice his wife of a messuage of a tenement (unum mesuagium de quodam tenemento) in Yelvertoft, next the messuage of Richard Terri, with the reversion of two messuages, of the same tenement, whereof a plea depended in the king's court between him, of the one part, and William Miller (molend'), Robert Gundwyn and Emma his wife of the other. Feoffment by William Pakwod of Henley in Arden to William Barker son of John Barker of the same and Alice his wife, of a tenement with a garden adjacent in Henley aforesaid, between land of Blessed Mary of Wotton on one side and the messuage called 'Pycardys Place' on the other, and reaching from the highway (regia via) of Henley to land late John Hereford's; which tenement and garden he, together with Richard Barell of Ulnehale since deceased, had by the gift and feoffment of John Barker father of the said William Barker. Indenture of demise by Margery late the wife of William Dastin of Magna Derset to William le Clerk of Geydon and Joan his wife, William their son and Mary their daughter, for the term of their lives in survivorship, of one rood of meadow in each Longelonde longwise (jacentem in utroque Longelonde in longitudine) in the meadow of Southende and Herdewyke next the meadow of Richard Terry; rendering therefore yearly for twenty-one years next to come after the feast of St. Michael, 7 Edward III, a rose on the feast of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist for all service, and thereafter 20s. yearly. Dated at Derset Magna the day and year above-said.

Indenture, being a feoffment by Henry del Sartery of Coventry to Isabel his daughter of a messuage in the High Street next 'le Pottere Rowe' in Coventry between the tenements late Simon Pat's and Robert Bonhome's; to hold to her and the heirs of her body lawfully begotten; rendering therefor to him and Joan his wife for their lives 16s. yearly; with remainder in default of her issue to Agnes his younger daughter and the heirs of her body, at the like rent, with remainder in default to his right heirs. Release by John son of John son of Simon Patte of Coventry to Henry del Sartrie of Coventry and Joan his wife and his heirs, of his right in a tenement which William Patte and Helewis his wife formerly held of him for the term of their lives in the High Street towards 'le Potteresrowe' in Coventry between the tenement of Robert Bonhoume on one side and the tenement which Isabel Patte then held late Simon Patte's on the other. Feoffment by John Mervyn, chaplain, and John Sabyn of Syllesworth to John Freman of Syllesworth in the parish of Watford, the elder, and Isabel his wife, for their lives in survivorship, of all the lands &c. they had by the gift and feoffment of the said John and Isabel, by charter of fee simple thereof made to them in Syllesworth aforesaid and the fields of the same; with remainder to John Freman the younger son of the said John and Isabel and the heirs of his body, with remainder in default to the right heirs of the said John the elder. (1) Indenture being a feoffment by John Willyby of Bobenhull to Thomas de Meryngton, Simon de Catesby, rector of the church of Wolfhamcote, William Brook, chaplain, and John Brook, of all his lands &c. in the town and fields of Bobenhull, co. Warwick, to the intent that, after seisin had, they should re-enfeoff him thereof subject to rent of 13s. 4d. yearly, with right of re-entry in default. Witnesses:— John de Catesby, Edward de Metteleye, John de Napton and others (named). Monday the morrow of St. Gregory the Pope, 14 Richard II.

Glouc. A. 8322. Feoffment by William Adam son of Adam Buggegode late of Mourton, co. Gloucester, to Thomas Mulle, lord of Harscombe, Master John Moreton, parson of the parish church of Cromehale, John Foort of Thornbury, and Thomas Note of Cowhulle in the said county, of a messuage with lands, &c. which he lately had by the gift and feoffment of John Danyell in the town and fields of Mourton aforesaid. Leycestre, and Henry Wright, citizen and draper (pannarius) of London, to Nicholas Co[w]ley of Swynford in the said county, John Harpur, William Cowley and Thomas Thurstone, of all the lands &c. in Yelvertoft, co. Northampton, they had by the demise of John Chambre, esquire, and which he had by the gift and grant of John Wright and William Wright; to hold to them and the heirs and assigns of Nicholas of the chief lords of the fee &c. Indenture of demise by Richard Cok of Nortone Kynges to John son of Thomas Dolfin of Toneworth, for the term of his life, of a cottage in Toneworth between lands of Richard Ernald and Thomas de Sydenhale and the highway from William de Folewode's house to Toneworth Church; rendering therefor yearly for the twelve years following the feast of the Annunciation, 21 Edward III, 8d. and doing the services due to the chief lords, and after the twelve years 20s. yearly; with remainder to the said John's heirs and assigns for the residue of the term if he died within the twelve years. Sunday the feast of the Annunciation in the year above said.

Indenture, being a feoffment by William Broke, rector of the church of Bereford on Avene, William Ofchyrch and John Astwell, chaplain, to John de Catesby and Emma his wife and his heirs and assigns, of all the lands &c. in Coventre and Corleye they had by the gift and feoffment of the said John, together with all manors &c. in the counties of Warwick, Northampton and Leicester as in the indentures thereof made more fully appeared. Indenture of demise by Rose (Rosa) Montfort, lady of Codbarewe, to Geoffrey son of Walter Atteheth of Lappeworth, of a messuage and land called 'Peches' in Notehurste which John Fox lately held; to hold to the said Geoffrey and [blank] his wife and [blank] their son for the term of their lives; rendering 20s. yearly, and heriot on a tenant's death &c. Feoffment by Thomas Waryn and Thomas Bourle to William atte Wode and Alice his wife of a cottage and curtilage in the town of Crischurche Twynham in 'la Castelstret,' between the tenement of John de Berkle, knight, and the cottage of John Prynke, the curtilage extending southward to the Castle ditch; which cottage and curtilage they had by the gift and feoffment of Margaret Blakemour in her widowhood, together with other lands &c. there and elsewhere. Indenture of demise for 200 years at 6d. rent by Alfred (Albredus), son and heir of John de Wyttelbury, to Robert de Messyngham, citizen and merchant of Lincoln, of a vacant place, not built on, in the parish of St. Botolph in Wykford in the suburb of Lincoln, 13½ ft. wide by 25½ ft. long. Counterpart of demise by William de Geydon to William White of Dunton and Alice his wife for their lives in survivorship of a messuage and a virgate of land, which Henry Knotte lately held of him, in Dunton and the territory of the same, by the rent of 20s. yearly at the three terms usual there, viz: Michaelmas, the Purification and Whitsuntide, giving a heriot, &c. Indenture made 24 July, 7 Henry VII, being the award of Edmund Lucy, esquire, made in the presence of John Fyssher, 'serjaunt to the lawe,' Nicholas Mattokke, Richard Copcote and Edmund Brown, in the matter of a dispute between Edmund Lucy, esquire, his nephew, son and heir of Sir William Lucy, knight, his brother deceased, and dame Alice Lucy, widow, late the wife of the said Sir William, which they had referred to his 'arbiterment,' viz: that she should, upon the said Edmund's request, deliver all evidences, court-rolls &c. to him and execute a release to him of her right in all the manors, lands and tenements late her said husband's; that the said Edmund should grant her an annnity of 40 marks yearly secured on the lordships of Cheryton, co. Warwike, and Cleybroke, co. Leycester, to her own use while sole or in the event of her re-marriage, 20 marks to her own use and 20 marks to the use of her children then living by the said Sir William; she to have all the goods and chattels of the said Sir William 'except the stondardys of howseholde,' and all his growing corn and 'halfe the greysse of Mellysmer thys yere'; 'the residue of the greysse the said Edmund Lucy the sone shall have and all other profettes of all the premisses.' Acquittance, 18 December, 16 Henry VII, by Henry Smyth of Coventry, 'gentilman,' one of the executors, in right of Jane his wife, of John Spenser, her late husband, to Richard Emson, 'gentilman,' for 26l. 13s. 4d. part of 200 marks lent by the said John Spenser to the said Eichard Emson and George Catesby 'for the restitucion of the said George'; 86l. 13s. 4d. whereof the said Richard had 'afore this tyme in sondry wise paid.' Executed by 'Henr' Smyth.' Seal.

Deed poll by William Walsh, reciting that John Watford son of Thomas Watford late of Great Creton, deceased, by charter indented, dated 1 August, 36 Henry VI, had granted to him and William Chambir- leyn of Watford, co. Northampton, since deceased, two crofts of pasture with all his, the said John's, lands &c. in the town and fields of Watford, to them and their heirs for ever; demise thereof to Nicholas Walsh for three years from Michaelmas, 14 Edward IV. Dated 20 September the said year. Seal.
Warw. A. 8335. Indenture of demise by Margery late the wife of William de Geydon to Robert Huggeford, for the term of her life, of all the lands &c. in Geydon and Chepynge Dorset, co. Warwick, which she had by the demise of Thomas Wedyngton, John Wethy and John Oxsshulfe, chaplains; rendering her 40s. yearly and three yards of cloth, or 6s. silver in place of them, at Easter yearly for a gown (toga); with right of distraint; provided always that after her death the premises should revert to the said Robert his heirs and assigns. Appointment by John, lord Lescrop, and Elesabeth his wife, of William Catesby, esquire, their son, as steward and surveyor of all their manors, &c. enjoyed by the said John in right of the said Elesabeth his wife in the county of Northampton; to hold the said office for the term of the life of the said Elesabeth, with a yearly rent of 4l. from the issues and profits of the manor and lordship of Braumfeld in the said county. 10 January, 20 Edward IV. Certificate under the seals of John Hercy, Roger Ennok and Richard Rondell of Avene Derset, that whereas Thomas de Morhalle, parson of the church of Quenton, John Wyard, John atte Welle, vicar of the church of Hampton in Arden, and Richard atte Welle, parson of the church of Avene Derset had granted to John son of William de Catesby for life the rent and services due from them, the said John, Roger and Richard, in the town of Avene Derset, with the reversion of certain lands &c. expectant on their decease, which rents, services, and reversions the said Thomas de Morhalle and the others had by the grant of Sir John Pecch' and their attornment thereon; which grant to Catesby the said Sir John Pecchee had confirmed; they the said John, Roger and Richard had attorned to the said Catesby and done fealty to him, in the presence of Sir William, parson of Lodbrok, Sir Richard, parson of Avene Derset, William Homerwych and other. Indenture, being a feoffment by Richard Laraunce, son and heir of John Laraunce of Bulkynton, to John Hampton of Coventry, son of Geoffrey Hampton, of all his lands, &c. in the town and fields of Bulkynton, paying him 52s. yearly during his life. Witnesses:—Richard, vicar of the church of Bulkynton, John Boteler, parker of Weston, and others (named). 14 December, 11 Henry VI.

Indenture, being a bond by Walter Boy of Nethercote, for the payment yearly to Robert atte Mulne of Wolphamcot, chaplain, for the term of his life and six years more, of twelve skeps of corn, good, dry, well winnowed, and measured, half a quarter of drag and half a quarter of pease, on the feast of St. Martin the Bishop, or within six days after. Sunday before St. Simon and St. Jude, 45 Edward III.
