Cambridge, to Richard and Henry Aylemer, of the same, of 2a. ½ rood arable lying dispersed in the fields of Berton viz. l½ roods next lands of the Master and Scholars of the College of Corpus Christi and St. Mary the Virgin of Cambridge, and of Richard Charleton, &c. which, together with other lands, they had by the feoffment of John Loudon of Berton. Witnesses:— Richard and John Aungere of Berton and others (named). 5 December, 2 Henry VII.

Indenture being a feoffment by Ralph Reskymer, esquire, lord of Trewarthian, to William Gurlyn of Gurlyn, of a tenement in Marghasbyan with a garden annexed, between the tenement of Thomas Burwyk and that late of John Bon Jon, with a parcel of land between land of the heirs of Ralph Vivian and the heirs of Lannargh, &c.; also of 20 perches of land south of the way leading from Marghasbyan to Bolyn, &c.; to hold to the said William and the heirs of his body by knight service; rent, 3s. 6d. and a pair of white gloves for all service save suit of court twice a year of the manor of Trevarthian. Cambridge, viz. ½d. at Watercoddys next land of Geoffrey Amys and of the vicarage of Berton and ½a. at 'Cambrigge wey' next land of the College of Clare Hall (collegii aule Clare) &c. which they had by the gift of Richard Dyke and Richard Cleve of Berton. [Cornw.] A. 10006. Indenture made at Lanhadron, 16 December, 17 Henry VI, between 'Rauf Reskymer, squyer,' and Thomas Arundel, knight, being an agreement that William eldest son of Ralph should marry 'Felyp' daughter of Sir Thomas and Dame Elizabeth his wife; Ralph to enfeoff them of lands to the value of 10l. yearly within two weeks after marriage, and after ten years, if 'Dame Johaan the wif of Thomas Carmynou squyer' died within that time, or if not, whenever she died, to enfeoff them of 10l. yearly in land; Sir Thomas to have the 'kepyng and the governance' of them 'tille that thei kune rewele ham by reson and discrecion' &c. if 'Felyp' died before the marriage, William to marry her sister Elizabeth; Sir Thomas to pay 100 marks for the marriage and to prosecute a suit in Ralph's name against Thomas Lucombe and his wife for the manor of Cabilye, which manor, if recovered, after Sir Thomas had recouped himself out of it, to be settled on the said William and Felyp. Chirograph indented, being a demise by Walter de Sarnesfeld son of Walter, lord (domini) of Sarnesfeld, to Walter de Wodemanton, of [his grange] at Halewarston and within the parish of Sarnefeud, which he bought of Robert de Syuete . . . with all the appurtenances except the hall, garden, and stone-roofed buildings, from Michaelmas, 34 Edward I, for two years; for this Walter to pay yearly eight seams (summas) of good corn well winnowed, &c. Bond by John Carnarthur, Reginald Hendre, and William Nanscalan, to John Reskymmer, esquire, in 100l. due at Easter, conditioned for their standing to the award, together with Joan, Margaret and Maud, their respective wives, and their said wives' heirs, of Richard Nanfan, knight, touching the title, in dispute between them and the said John, of lands, &c. in Pennarth next Treveke and Carveyneke Wolas. 12 January, 7 Henry VII.

Indenture made 11 December, at Reskymer, 49 and 1 Henry VI, being the award of William Antron, Otys Treffusys and John Boskawen upon matters in dispute between William Reskymer, esquire, and John Petyt, esquire, viz. the said John shall 'enffeffe' the said William 'of his place Engelly in the parisse of Seynt Mowgan in Maneke in Karyer Hundred' for three years, without impeachment of waste, saving to the said John all trees thereon; general releases to be made by each to the other; their respective claims for homage to be determined by their learned counsel before Michaelmas next; distresses levied on either side to be given up, except the said John pay for the pasture of the beasts 'whyche beyn in Restronga yn pownde '; bonds in 20l. to be entered into by both parties. Feoffment by William son and heir of Ralph de Tregot [Tregoys] to Thomas Petticrue [Pedicru] and Alice his wife, and the heirs of the body of the said Thomas, with remainder in default to John de Trevaynhon in tail, with remainder in default to the right heirs of Thomas, of the reversion expectant on the death of Isabel de Trevael, late the wife of Sir Ralph de Tregot, his father, who held the same of his inheritance, in dower in the manor of Trederf, of the whole land [a messuage and all the land] of Nansauson [Nanssauson] next Trederf, with the homages, rents and services of William de Rostourec, Reginald de Kervich [Kervyec], Reginald de la Medissole [Medesoyl], Osbert de Nanskelly, John Jan [Janna] of Nanskelly, Ivo de Trederf, Nicholas de Trederf, Roger de Funtenlasech [Funtenlasec] and Richard Herding of Trederf [Richard Herdyn and Andrew de Trewenys], his tenants by homage and service in Trederf, with lawns (landis), moors and all other its appurtenances in the manor of Trederf, with 6d. from the stream (beda) of the mill of Fordgeu; rendering therefore yearly, after the death of the said Isabel, 51s. 4d. Indenture being an acquittance by John Pedyt of Trenerth to Nicholas de Pennans for 18 marks received by the hands of Henry, Nicholas' son, in part of 200l. wherein the said Nicholas, John de Killygrew and others were bound to him; also grant to the said Henry, son and heir of Nicholas, that neither he nor his heirs shall be distrained or vexed by him on account of the said debt of 200l. so long as they keep the present writing in their own hands, so that it come not to the hand of any of the other debtors to his prejudice. Release by Daniel de Trewen, to Nicholas de Tregennoro, clerk, of three pieces (particulas) of land in Trewen, viz. of all his right in the croft of Kestellbrun, the croft of 'le Perperneie,' and ½a. land English in a croft called Doerhyr, in exchange for half the land which Richard de Mores had of him in Gwaelhecarn; to hold by the same service, as the charter of feoffment of the moiety of the whole land of the town of Trewen, to the said Nicholas by him more fully made, witnessed. [rent] with the homage, &c. of Thomas de Pennans for ½a. land in Pennans; of 10d. with the homage, &c. of the said Thomas for a ferling of land in Trenresky; 6d. with the homage, &c. of John de Nansfyn for a half ferling of land in Pennans; 12d. with &c. of Nicholas de Pennans in the same town; 12d. with the homage, &c. of the said Nicholas for a ferling of land in Lanhergy; 2s. with, &c. of Luke (Luce) de Tredaek for la. land in Penhalmur; 6d. with, &c. of Thomas son of Richard de Pennans for a half ferling of land in the same town; to be paid to the said Luke his heirs and assigns, half yearly; also of 22d. with the homage, &c. of Peter de Coysgaran for one third of an acre of land in the same town, payable quarterly; with all his right of (moleti) and toll of tin in the manor of Pensegnans. Counterpart of demise for sixty years, at 30s. rent, by Ralph Reskymmer, esquire, to Pascoe (Paschasius) Paffard, of all his lands, &c. in Willis next Chymeder, and 4a. of land of the lordship of Gwynnyon next Nampyan, which Richard Raw lately held; to hold as conven- tionary tenant, &c. Cornw. A. 10022. Indenture made between John Gybbes of Pensans, co. Cornwall, of the one part, and John Goffe, Spaniard (Ispann'), of the other, witnessing that John Goffe has put himself to the said John Gybbes to be taught the art of fishing (ad artem piscandi erudiendam), to dwell with him as an apprentice and to serve from the feast of St. Philip and St. James next for eight years, during which term he shall serve the said John Gybbes and Agnes his wife as his masters, &c.; they shall train him in the trade (in arte piscarie), chastising him (debito mode castigand'), &c. and he shall have 20s. from them at the end of the term. Release by John Reskymmer, esquire, to John Carewe, clerk, prior of the hospital or priory of St. John the Baptist next the bridge of Helstonburgh, and his successors for ever, of all his right in all the lands, &c. in the towns and places of Penfenten, Menethclusowe, Neuham and elsewhere within the county of Cornwall to the said priory belonging, and in all masses, prayers, orasons and devotions daily [and] yearly to be celebrated and said for his soul and his parents' souls. Witnesses:—John Godolghan, Thomas Seyntaubyn, Henry Gylyott, John Penrosmethle, John Nanskylly. 10 April, 2 Henry VII. Cornwall, to John Gybbes, of all his lands, &c. in Rostvyek and Garros in the parish of Gulval (Sancte Wilvele) in the hundred of Penwith, in the said county, which descended to him on the decease of Joan Kyrrys, his mother, and Alice late the wife of William de Calathre, his aunt, the daughters and coheirs of David de Rostvyek. Indenture being a feoffment by Thomas Roscruk son and heir of Richard Roscruk to Thomas Roscruk son of James Roscruk, of the rent and service of John Thomkyn for the lands, &c., which the said John held of him in the town of Penhalwyn for term of years with the reversion thereof; rent, during the said term, a grain of corn at Michaelmas, and thereafter, for the first twenty years, after the end of the said term, 1d., and thereafter 40s. at the terms usual in the hundred of Kerryer. Indenture of demise by John de Trevarthyan to Richard Boskennau and Joan his wife for their lives, of the messuages, &c. rents and services of free tenants, &c. in Marghasbyghan, which he had recovered against them by writ of right in the court of Trejewal, with the reversion of the lands, &c. and rents and services of free tenants, &c. which Eustace Trenaek and Eva his wife held of him for the term of the life of the said Eva in Marghasbyghan; rent, 19½d. and the like for the reversion, for all service, save suit of court twice a year. Indenture, reciting that disputes had arisen between Richard de Reskemmer and John son of Bartholomew le Senechal touching lands, &c. for which the said John had sued the said Richard in the King's court before the justices of the Bench upon a writ of entry (per brere de ingressu quod dicitur post dim[i]ssionem, viz., for the whole tenement of Rosneython, Tregenfreys, Treulecyon Woeles, Treulecyon Wartha, Pordeustek, and a ferling of land in Carnellas, viz. a moiety of the whole town, as divided for the purposes of the present charter, with 12d. rent for the stream (bedo) of Godrevi mill, and likewise for Tregelohan, Trebichan, Tyenuran, Trebervet and a moiety of the town of Carnellas, with the homage and service of Ralph de Tregot for 1a. land in Tyenals and Tregellest; it was at length agreed as follows:—the said Richard gave to the said John and his heirs all the lands of Rosneython, Treulechyon Woeles,Treulechyon War[t]ha,Tregenfreys, Pordeustek and a ferling of land in Carnellas, viz., a moiety of the whole town of Carnellas, and 12d. rent for the stream of Godrevi mill, doing service therefore as much as belongs to . . . seven acres of land in Rosneython of a fee of Morteyn; for this the said John has released his right to the said Richard in the towns of [Tregelohan], Trebichan, Tyenuran, Trebervet, and a moiety of the town of Carnellas with the homage and service of Ralph de [Tregot for one] acre of land in Tyenals and Tregellest. Feoffment by Maud late the wife of William le Mareys of Berton and Margaret daughter of the said William to Gamelyn de Cottyng- wyth of Berton of three selions lying together in Madwefeld of Berton at 'le Cros' next land which Geoffrey le Lorymer held in bondage of Sir Bartholomew de Burwahs, abutting on Robert Outelawe's land. Sunday after St. Mark, 20 Edward III.

Indenture being an agreement between Richard Baroun and Alice his wife, of the one part, and Simon de Glynton, parson of Helgeye, and John de Huntyngdon, parson of Gravele, of the other, to wit that the said Richard and Alice shall give all their lands, &c. in Gravelee, co. Cambridge, inherited or purchased by the said Alice and her ancestors, to the said Sir Simon and Sir John, by fine levied in court, in consideration of 25 marks, viz. 5 marks at once, 10 marks on the levying of the fine, and 10 marks within half a year thereafter, and two robes forthwith, viz. at Whitsuntide next, and thereafter a robe of office for Richard yearly (une robe par an de suyte de gent doffice) and for Alice a robe every third year of stuff like a clerk's and furred (de tiel.drape come les clerks pernount ove la furrure), for the term of their lives; further, a chaplain shall have 20a. and a house (mees) and croft next Robert de Pappeworth's, for life, out of the said lands, &c, and another chaplain after him, to sing (a chaunter) for the souls of Robert atte Halle and of Alice his daughter, aforesaid, and of all their ancestors, of the abbot and convent of Rameseye and for all Christian souls, in the church of Gravelee for ever (pardurablement). Counterpart indenture being a feoffment by Amicia late the wife of John Trevisa, widow, to John Mohun, John Skewys, Reginald Tretherff, James Veell and Peter Sentalbyn, of all her lands, &c. in Lannargh meour, Marghasowe, Marghasvyghan, Helston Burgh, Tresoward, Erlyn, Rescoll, Retalek, Tregoys and Gwenna and elsewhere in the county of Cornwall, to hold to the use of her, the said Amicia, for the term of her life, and after her decease to the use of Thomas Tretherff and Mary his wife and the heirs of their bodies, and in default of such issue to the use of her, the said Amicia's right heirs: attorneys to deliver seisin John Densell and John Udy. 12 February, 23 Henry VII.

Indenture of demise by Thomas Treithyan to Ralph Stondraher, for the term of his life, at 6s. 8d. rent, of a pit (cisternam) in the town of Mederos, then in Ralph's occupation, to draw stone-tiles (lapides teculat') and all other stones from for his own profit, with three men working there from day to day, employing as many men as he pleases to clear (ad purgandum) the said pit, so that once in two years it be clear (ita quod in quolibet duobus annis semel sit pura), with free ingress and egress to carry the stones from it, and this with the tenants of the said Thomas paying to them as much as to others; if it happen the said pit to fail (deficere) it shall be lawful to the said Ralph to dig land sufficient on the west side to draw stone as aforesaid. [N'hamp.] A. 10083. Indenture being a memorandum of the covenants made between Edmund de Watford and Robert de Craunford, viz. Edmund has granted Robert 35 marks, so that Robert shall marry his daughter Margaret, and he shall grant them in frank marriage 1 mark of rent from a messuage and virgate of land in Dyngole, which Robert Martin holds for his life, with the reversion thereof, in discharge of 13 out of the said 35 marks, also the rents issuing from the land which was Robert Harm's, William Blake's, William de Baddeby's and Anneys Robyn's, and from the cottages which Anneys Simond and others held in Assheby Leger, in discharge of 10 marks thereof; of the residue he will pay Robert 8 marks on the day of marriage, 2 marks on Lammas day (a la Goulant) and 2 marks on St. Luke's day following; Robert shall grant the said Margaret for her life a messuage in Assheby Leger, worth 6s. yearly, and 32a. land there which Nicholas de Craunford gave the said Robert to him and his heirs for ever; Edmund also grants that Margaret shall dwell with him (aura soun sojourn) up to the feast of St. Michael next. Indenture between Walter Menhyr and Ralph Tredenen of the one part and Henry Richard of Bodmin of the other, witnessing that it is agreed between them that John Nanskelly son and heir of John Nanskelly shall be married to Joueta, Henry's daughter, and Henry shall give 20l. to their marriage at their full age, and the said Walter and Ralph delivered to the said Henry the said John and all his (cez) lands and tenements in whatever places they be, and all the muniments touching the inheritance of the said John, that is to say, all the muniments touching Nanskelly, Penhal, Tregony, Truru, Tregena and Bossulyanbyan, and the muniments of a tenement in Bodmyn, wherein the said Henry dwells; and the said Henry shall deliver the said muniments to the said John Nanskelly at his full age; if Joueta die before the said John be of full age, he shall be married by the said Henry, William and Ralph, and if he die under age, the said Henry shall have the wardship and marriage of John his brother, doing to him as to his brother John aforesaid; bond by Henry in 50l. for performance of covenants. Exemplification dated at London, Tuesday after St. Andrew the Apostle, 1275, under the seal of the officiality of the Archdeacon of London, of the sentence, dated at London, Wednesday after St. James the Apostle, 1258, under the same seal, pronounced by Godfrey, official of the Archdeacon of London, commissary of the prior of St. Bartholomew, and of the dean of London, the judges delegated by the Pope—their fellow judge, the Archdeacon of Colchester, being duly excused—in the suit between Master Geoffrey de Feringes, precentor of Chichester, and the prior and convent of Lewes, touching the tithes of Ovinges, which, both lesser and greater, except a moiety of the wool and lambs arising from a hide of land in the said parish held by William de Ovinges and Mary his mother, were taken by the said prior and convent, to the grave hurt, as the said Geoffrey alledged, of himself and the church of Ovinges and against common right (jus commune); by which sentence, having regard to their long and peaceful possession of the said tithes, the said prior and convent are absolved from Geoffrey's impeachment, and perpetual silence is imposed on him and his successors touching the same. Counterpart indenture whereby Roger le Taillour of Bodmin, grants to Sir John de Trejagu an extension of time for the payment of twenty-one thousand-weight of stamped tin, quit of all customs, at Lostwithiel from Monday the feast of St. John before the Latin Gate, 18 Edward II, to St. Clement's day next, with voidance in such event of the feoffment made him by the said John, on Friday the Con- version of St. Paul last and of release of even date, of four messuages and all his land in Tredinek next Nanscolleth, a messuage and all his land in Woen next Nanscolleth, two messuages and all his land in Tresulian next Poldu, and two corn mills next Nanscolleth.
