The Privy Council to the Earl of Salisbury, Lieutenant of co. Herts.
1611–12, January 31. The condition of these times is such, both in respect to the boldness which the recusants have taken of late, and otherwise, as may require a ready and sufficient supply of provisions for war. He is therefore required to take a muster and survey of the armed forces of co. Herts. Detailed instructions follow. Certificate of the muster is to be sent in by the 1st of April next. Court at Whitehall, last of January, 1611.
