June 1311

June 18.
Berwick-on-Tweed.
To the sheriff of Norfolk. Order to proclaim that all merchants may securely go with victuals to Berwick-on-Tweed, and may sell the same there at their pleasure, the king having ordered that they may do so to aid his expedition to Scotland, without anything being taken from them for the king's use against their will, provided that they do not cross with their victuals from that port to Scotland without the licence of Peter de Gavaston, earl of Cornwall, supplying the king's place in Scotland. He is to cause them to know that nothing will be taken from them without due satisfaction being made therefor.
The like to all the sheriffs of England.
