Aug. 4.
Berkhampstead.
To Gerard Salvayn, escheator beyond Trent. Order not to intermeddle further with a messuage and a carucate of land in Thorleby and Stretton, co. York, held in chief on the day of his death by Everard Fauvel as of the honour of Skipton in Craven, which honour the king granted to Peter de Gavaston and Margaret his wife before the death of the said Everard.
Aug. 8.
Northampton.
Alice, late the wife of William atte Tounesende of Brouneswaure, imprisoned at Warwick for the death of Agnes Court, has letters to the sheriff of Warwick to bail her until the first assize.
Richard Culvert, of Toneworth, imprisoned at Warwick for the death of William le Bercher, has like letters to the same sheriff.
Aug. 10.
Northampton.
To the sheriff of Cumberland. Order to deliver to John de Boyvill seisin of a messuage and 10 acres of land in Thoresby, which Adam del Spence, hanged for felony, held of the said John, as they have been in the king's hands for a year and a day. Alexander de Bastingthweyt, sheriff of the said county, who now holds them, has had the year and day thereof, for which he has to account to the king.

Northampton.
To the sheriff of Sussex. Order to restore his lands and goods to Goscelin de Grefham, clerk, indicted for the death of John son of William Maximian before Roger of Hegham and Peter Mallore at Chichester, he having purged his innocence before J. bishop of Chichester, his diocesan, to whom he was delivered according to the privilege of the clergy.

To Clement de la Forde, late bailiff of the High Peak (de Alto Pecco). Order to deliver to Walter de Waldeshef, the king's forester of the High Peak, the arrears of his wages for the time of his office as bailiff.
Aug. 10.
Northampton.
To the same. Order to cause Matthew de Reynfru, John Prest of Pebblis, and Robert de Meneteht, Scotch prisoners in his custody, to be safely led to Notingham Castle, there to be delivered by indenture to John de Segrave, constable thereof.
Mandate in pursuance to John de Segrave.
To Gerard Salvayn, escheator beyond Trent. Order to allow Henry de Lacy, earl of Lincoln, from whom he was ordered to receive the castle and manor of Skipton in Craven, lately in the said earl's charge, to have the corn planted by him on the lands of the castle and manor and all his other goods there, and to restore to him anything that may have been taken away therefrom.
To John de Segrave, constable of Notingham castle. Order to cause the king's houses within the said castle and the gates, bridges, mills, and the weirs thereof to be repaired.

Northampton.
To Walter de Gloucester, escheator this side Trent. Order not to intermeddle further with the issues of the wardship and marriage of the lands and heirs of Thomas de Wodhull, tenant in chief, delivered by W. bishop of Coventry and Lichfield, treasurer of the late king, and by the said escheator to queen Margaret in part payment of 4,000l. granted to her by the late king from his wardships and marriages; which wardship and marriage she sold to John de Drok[enesford], king's clerk, the late king confirming the same grant. He is ordered to restore to the said John anything that he may have taken of the knights' fees, wardships, reliefs, etc. pertaining thereto.

To John Wogan, justiciary of Ireland. Order not to distrain Peter de Hampton, son and heir of Ralph de Hampton, for the homage for the land held of the king by his father in Ireland, the king having received the said Peter's homage. By p.s.

William Peper, imprisoned at Cokermuth for the death of Richard Ofthewra, has letters to the sheriff of Cumberland to bail him until the first assize.
The like in favour of Thomas Peper, and for Thomas son of John de Bastenthwait, imprisoned for the same cause.

To the sheriff of Essex. Order to elect, in full county [court] with the assent of the said county, a verderer for the king's forest of Essex in place of John Hubert, who is unfit.

To Robert de Kendale, constable of Dover and warden of the Cinque Ports. Order to countermand the king's order for the barons, bailiffs, and men of the Cinque Ports to be at Skynburnesse in the octaves of the Assumption of St. Mary next to proceed with their service of ships against Robert de Brus and his accomplices, rebels in Scotland, the king having deferred his expedition for the present.
The like to the bailiffs of Eremuth and Lymyngton, countermanding the service of one ship and 42 men.

To Roger le Brabanzoun. Order to release William le Pestur of Huckefelde, imprisoned for trespasses committed in the fishpond of the archbishop of Canterbury at Plattesbrigge and in the king's fishpond at Mersefeld and the fishpond of Robert de Shyrlonde at Boghsted, co. Sussex, whereof he was convicted before the said Roger and his fellows, justices of oyer and terminer of the late king in the said county, as he has been imprisoned for two years, taking from the said Gilbert (sic) a fine for the unexpired term of imprisonment and for what pertains to the king of the trespasses aforesaid.
The like in favour of Thomas de Bretonere, John Testard, and William de Hodleye, convicted before W. de Bereford for trespasses in the same county.
The like in favour of Elias Lytefayr imprisoned for trespasses committed in the park of William de Leyburn, in co. Kent.
The like in favour of Nicholas de Stonlegh, convicted before W. de Bereford for a trespass in the park of J. de Britannia, earl of Richmond, at Bynelham, co. Sussex.
