Oct. 1.
Westminster.
Nicholas de Lovaygne, knight, acknowledges that he owes to John Bonet, John de Podenhale and William Bonet, citizens and brushwood-sellers of London, 80l.; to be levied, in default of payment, of his lands and chattels in Surrey.
Cancelled on payment.
John bishop of Worcester acknowledges that he owes to Edmund de Grymesby, clerk, 40l.; to be levied etc. in the county of Worcester.
Enrolment of deed testifying that whereas Roger, son and heir of John de Seynt Johan of Lageham, knight, has granted to Sir Nicholas de Loveyne, knight, and Margaret his wife the manor of Great Barton, co. Oxford, to hold in accordance with a fine levied by him in the king's court, Roger has sworn on the gospels, his allegiance and the order of chivalry that he will never make release or grant of the right of that manor to any one whereby Nicholas and Margaret may be disturbed of their right therein, contrary to the form of the said fine, and if the contrary is found in any point he acknowledges himself as false and disloyal and a recreant knight, and because his mother has one of his seals of his arms in her care, and in case a release is found, shown or brought forward after this, he wishes it to be null and notifies all that it is not his deed. Dated at London, 24 May, 26 Edward III. French.
Memorandum that Roger came into chancery at London on 3 October and acknowledged the preceding indenture.
Enrolment of deed testifying that Ralph Pouger has submitted himself to the will of John bishop of Worcester in right of any contract or agreement made between them, and he has released to the bishop all manner of action by reason of such contract. Dated at London, 4 October, 26 Edward III. French.

John archbishop of Dublin puts in his place John de Scarle and Peter Grevet, to prosecute the execution of a recognisance for 400l. made to him in chancery by Master Andrew de Ufford, archdeacon of Middlesex in St. Paul's church, London, and parson of Ovre church, diocese of Ely.

William son of John de Northtoft, knight, acknowledges that he owes to Adam Fraunceys and John Pyel 40l.; to be levied, in default of payment, of his lands and chattels in Norfolk.

To the sheriffs of London. Order to cause two ships called 'La Seinte Mariebote' and 'La Thomas' with Thomas de Faxflete and William Spark, masters of the same, to be arrested without delay, with the goods and chattels found therein and to keep them safely until further order, certifying the king in chancery of the names of the owners of the ships, and of the said goods, their owners and value.

To the same. Like order with regard to a ship of Newcastle upon Tyne called 'La Nicholas,' whereof John del Lawe is master. By C.

To the same. Order to permit all ships of Holand and Seland, which lately came from parts beyond, laden with divers merchandise, to the port of that city, and which are now about to return to their own parts after unlading their merchandise, to proceed without hindrance, after first taking oath and security from the masters of the ships that they will take them to Seland and Holand and not to the ports of Flanders, and that they will not take any men of England in the ships to those parts.

William de Dacre, knight, acknowledges that he owes to Richard de Thoresby 20l.; to be levied, in default of payment, of his lands and chattels in the county of Lincoln.

Enrolment of grant by Edmund son and heir of Hamo de Sutton of Suffolk to John de Stodeye, citizen and vintner of London, of 10l. yearly quit rent to be received of all his lands in the town of Hokkele with all its appurtenances in Essex, to wit 100s. at Easter and 100s. at Michaelmas, with power of distraint if the rent be in arrear. He has paid 20s. of the said rent to John in name of seisin. Dated at London, 10 October, 26 Edward III. Witnesses: Henry Pycard, Simon Dolsely, Henry Vannere, John de Rothynge, John Chaucer, citizens of London, Sir William Vaghan, William de Darsham, John de Berland, Adam de Eredale, John de Bergholte of Essex.
Memorandum that Edmund came into chancery at London on 22 October and acknowledged the preceding deed.
Enrolment of indenture testifying that whereas Edmund de Sutton son of Hamo de Sutton, co. Suffolk, is bound to John de Stodeye, citizen and vintner of London, in 400l. for merchandise bought from him, as appears by a statute merchant acknowledged before Andrew Aubrey, then mayor of London, and Thomas de Colleye, then clerk appointed to receive the recognisances of debts in that city, which acknowledgement is dated at London on 19 April in the 26th year of the reign, to be paid to John or to his attorney on the quinzaine of Easter next; and whereas Edmund granted to John a yearly rent of 10l. of his lands in Hokkele, co. Essex, as appears by the preceding deed; and further whereas Edmund has now enfeoffed John of all his lands in the city of London in the parishes of St. Martin in Vintry and St. James Garlekheth by his charter, which lands Edmund lately recovered against Walter Turk by the king's writ of novel disseisin, the date of the charter and seisin being 12 April in the 26th year of the reign, John grants that if he holds the said lands in the said parishes without hindrance of Edmund or of any other by reason of any recognizance or contract made by Edmund, except alms, chantries and quit rents due to religious houses and services due to the chief lords of the fee, then the statute merchant for 400l. and the deed for the rent of 10l. shall lose their force; and John grants that if he is impleaded for the said tenements or any part thereof, that immediately after the plea Edmund or his heirs shall be warned by him thereof at his manor of Wydekeshoo, co. Suffolk, or at his tenement of Hokkele, co. Essex, by view of the neighbours, so that he may be able to go to the place where the plea is pending to warrant the said tenements, and if John does not do so and the tenements or any part thereof are lost by his default, then the said statute merchant and deed shall be null, but if John loses the tenements by default of Edmund's warrant after he has been warned as aforesaid, by a tried action, and Edmund does not satisfy him for the value of what is so lost, then the statute merchant and deed shall remain in force. Memorandum that both John and Edmund came into chancery at London on 23 October and acknowledged the preceding deed.

Arnald de Duro Forti acknowledges that he owes to the king 2,000 marks; to be levied, in default of payment, of his lands and chattels in the duchy of Gascony.
This recognisance is cancelled, because Arnald surrendered a bill in accordance with the following memorandum, as appears below at this sign*.
Memorandum by the king that if Arnald should surrender at the exchequer the bills made to him under the seal of the constable of Bordeaux, containing 100 marks, then the said recognisance for 2,000 marks should be cancelled.
