Thomas, cardinal priest of St. Cyriac, archbishop of Canterbury and primate, to Walter Blount, knight, lord Montjoye, William Hastynges, knight, lord Hastynges, John Fogge and Thomas Burgh, knights, their heirs and assigns. Demise and quitclaim of all personal actions that he may have against them by reason of any debt or deed of obligation up to the date of this present writ, on the security of a sum of 2000 marks owed to him by the king for the purchase by the king from him of the manor or demesne of Hunnisdon.

Memorandum, that on 11 July, 11 Edward IV, John Sebol, merchant, dwelling in London, brought before the king in chancery certain letters of credence under the sign manual of James Velleryno, notary public of the town of Lepe in Spain. (Spanish text follows.)

To my brother John Sebol merchant at London. Know that to Martin Ibanesse de Artiago, dwelling at Varacalla, master of a carvel called St. Bartholomew here in the port of Vasiatalegus, have received and charged in my carvel of you John de Medyna merchant, dwelling in Lepe, 31 whole tons of Bastard and Romanys (wine) and more, 38 butts of Rumney and more, 6 pipes and two quarts of red wine (tint) bastard and a pipe of grain of paradyce (manegusta) marked with this mark pt to all which I bind me and God bring my carvell in safety to London port to be given and delivered to John Sebol merchant, and shall pay me for freight of every tun reckoned, 5 butts for three tuns: 22s. Flemish money after the rate of English money within 30 days ensuing after the coming of the carvell in port and for that also to hold and keep I bind me and all my goods and my carvel and freight and all manner of tackle belonging to the said ship, and of this I am content; and give this letter of knowledge before a notary public beneath written that may make one or more letters of knowledge, and when one is content, the other be void. Written in the town called Lepe; the xxiij. day of October, A.D. 1470. Witnesses: John Alyman and Sancho Rodriges dwelling in Lepe. And I give you a merchant for go by the sea and no for more (sic) Alfonso Scodero dwelling in Lepe. And I James Velleryno notary public of Lepe for my lord don Pedro de Stonagall, write and set here my sign for the truth in Lepe the 23 October. To my brother John Sebol merchant in London in carvel of Martin Ibanes, which parted the 26 day of the said month. I write to you large by this none other, but I send you within this a letter of knowledge, and also how it is charged in the said carvel, to a sum of payment of your clothes. I must have assurance, but I deem ye have some what yourself charged in this same carvel of Martin Ibanes, that God save: 23 tuns more, 7 tuns Rumney with the counter mark (fn. 1); 8 tuns, 6 pipes, 2 quarts of teynt bastard (it is much good, it cost double as much as the bastard ?), 6 pipes, 2 quarts more, 35 butts rumneys, 38 butts, that is 57 tuns marked with this mark. The cost of all I have written by other letters to you and how much I owe you: God give you good winning. More I send you a pipe greyne of peradice, 197 lb. cost 130 doubles loke (?) and it may be profit. Over more, 3 tuns bastard of Alonso Scudero and two tuns fruit and 'tint' to do with like as your own; and when he comes there, send him to Brugges with letters that he hath to Alver (Coulas). Overmore I have given the master sum as I wrote you to be paid of him. I gave him 2l. as ready money that he must pay you, and moreover receive 8s. of Alonso Scudero. No more at this time, but an ye send any clothes, let it be 'musterdevillers' and streytes of 'bysewate,' fine and good 'cerseys' and white russets and greengayes none other, but God give ye that ye desire. Condition, that if judgement be made in chancery on the part of David Colwell in a certain matter pending decision between David aforesaid and John Seboll on the arrest and detinue of 205 sacks of wool and 25 sacks of 'urchell,' which were valued at 280l., and if David receive the said 280l. from Thomas and Philip aforesaid, this recognisance shall be voided.
