To William Lamborne knight lieutenant of the king's admiral to the westward, and to John Creswelle one of the admiral's deputies. Order at their peril, upon petition of John Dassyam lieutenant of the castle and town of Chirbourgh, Bernard de Sancto Johanne, Ernaud de Lica a Gascon, Durand Symonde and William la Besse burgesses of Chirbourgh, and in consideration of the warm friendship between the king of Navarre, lord of the said town, and the king and his subjects, and that the same were taken contrary to the present truce it is said, and are of subjects of the king of Navarre, as the king is informed by letters of John Dassyam lieutenant and constable of Chirebourgh which he has viewed, and more especially at the request of the queen for their speedy furtherance, without difficulty or wilful delay so far as concerns them and is incumbent on their offices to make restitution of the two ships hereinafter mentioned to them to whom they pertain, and the goods and merchandise therein taken; as that petition shews that on 18 September last Philip Marcatell and others of his company took at sea in manner of war a ship of Chirbourgh called 'la Trinite,' the said Durand master, and another ship of Chirbourgh called 'la George,' William Burgeys of Chirbourgh master, having therein and in another ship of the marshal of Navarre called 'la Katerine' of Chirbough goods and merchandise of the petitioners to the value of 1,500 francs of gold, that the said two ships and parcel of those goods are now in the possession of Richard Treveignoun, Arnald Biscathvith of the parish of 'Seint Juste in Russelonde' in Cornwall, William Faireflex, John Wilcoke of Penryn, John Kylligerowe of Penryn, John Dymselle, John Tamer of Treguny, Pascoe Gilberde of Treguny and John Dekene of Ermouth, and that they have refused to deliver up the same to the petitioners, though many times by them requested so to do.
