Geoffrey Plumton groom of the king's chamber is sent to the abbot and convent of Lilleshille, to take of that house such maintenance as John Boryngton deceased had therein at request of King Edward III. By K.

Order to cause proclamation to be made in singular the ports and places within his bailiwick where need shall be, that no merchants of the realm or other lieges shall betake themselves over to Prucia, nor send merchandise thither, save at their own risk, until certain disputes between some of the lieges and men of those parts shall be determined; as by reason thereof no merchants of Prucia are repairing to England with merchandise, as they used to do.

To the sheriff of Kent. Order under a pain of 1,000l., for particular causes which concern the estate and defence of the realm, to the end that all who have done the king fruitful service shall have ready payment of their annuities, until further order with assent of the council in the next parliament to make no payment of the issues of the county to any man by virtue of letters patent, writs or commands of the king under any seal whatsoever of any sums of life annuities granted by the king, the late king or any former king, over and above the sums appointed for the expenses of the king's household; to cause proclamation to be made in singular the ports and places within his bailiwick where need shall be, that no mayors or bailiffs of cities, boroughs or towns, no occupiers, farmers, receivers, bailiffs or tenants of manors, honours, priories etc. of the king, and no customers or other receivers of his moneys shall until such further order make or receive such payments to any man of the fee farms of cities etc., the rents, farms, issues or profits of manors etc., or of customs and subsidies over and above the sums appointed as aforesaid, knowing of a surety and warning them that the king will disallow at the exchequer any payments made contrary to this command; and order with all speed to certify the king and council of the dates and places where proclamation was made. Writ of supersedeas in favour of Roger Assent late of London skinner, John Ferrour servant of Thomas Erpyngham knight and Thomas Eyverarde of Sutton 'squier,' and order by mainprise of Stephen Heyne of Derbyshire, William Joce, Robert de Warley and Stephen Beamond of Staffordshire to set them free, if taken for certain trespasses, extortions, damages, grievances and excesses for which they are indicted.

To the treasurer and the barons of the exchequer. Writ of supersedeas in respect of their demand upon the prior of St. John the Evangelist Pontefract, Roger Swyllyngton knight, Alfred de Manston, William de Craven and John Broune of Pontefract of Yorkshire to answer for 100l. for which on 1 June 4 Henry IV they made a recognisance to the king, under a condition that the prior and convent should abide the award of certain persons to be nominated by the king touching disputes which had arisen between them and the dean of the chapel of St. Clement within Pontefract castle, and touching divers parcels of tithes in those parts, and should within a time to be by the king limited perform whatsoever those persons should appoint, and order to discharge them, releasing any distress made; as by command of the king that recognisance has been cancelled upon the chancery rolls, for that the prior and convent have fulfilled all in the condition contained. Writ of supersedeas until further order by advice of the council, for particular causes laid before the king and council, in respect of executing the judgment rendered in an assize of novel disseisin concerning tenements in Bishops Lenne, whereby Henry bishop of Norwich recovered against John Wenteworth mayor and the commonalty of that town 100 acres of land and 20 acres of pasture, and damages by the jurors assessed at 1,000 marks, and order not to suffer the mayor and commonalty to be troubled or grieved. Writ of supersedeas, and order by mainprise of John Robyns, Henry Paly, Walter Comaundour and Richard Anable, all of Swafham of Norffolk, to set free John Prat of Bryngham, Richard Bylawe, John Andrewe, William Lessyngham and Thomas Prat, if taken at suit of Thomas Astlee for trespass.
Richard Northlande knight to the king. Grant for twenty years from Michaelmas last, for certain matters which touch his conscience, of his manor, lands, rents and services in the city of London and in Compton Moredoke co. Warrewyk, held in right of Joan his wife, saving always the rents and services due to the lords of the fee after that term, with proviso that then the premises shall revert to the grantor, or to the right heirs of his body by his said wife, and it shall be lawful for him and them without suit to the king again to enter and have the same, this grant notwithstanding. William abbot of Westminster, the prior and convent, to William Bulkere chaplain and his successors, chaplains of the chantry hereinafter mentioned. Indenture tripartite, made with their assent, consent and good will in full chapter house, for 300 marks to them paid by Master Walter Cooke canon of the cathedral church of Lincoln for relief of their monastery, and for the patronage of a perpetual chantry in the chapel of St. John Baptist, St. Lawrence and St. Anne in the town or hamlet of Knolle co. Warrewyk new built and founded by the said Walter with licence of the king and of the abbot and convent, which he has granted to the abbot and convent and to their successors to their use and advantage and towards the portion of the prior and convent, and in consideration of the profits and emoluments which may thereby fall to them in times to come, giving with warranty to the said chaplains after canonical treaty and deliberation, and after obtaining licence of the king, a yearly rent of 10 marks of quit rent of their manor of Knolle, to whose hands soever it shall come, and power to distrain therein if it be fifteen days in arrear, and to levy 20s. in addition as often as the same shall be sixteen days in arrear, and for their greater security bond in 100s. payable as often as the grantees shall be hindered or disturbed in such distress or levy by them, their successors, or attorneys or by any farmer or occupier of that manor or any parcel thereof, or any other person in their name, and they have put the said William in possession by payment of 2d.; one part hereof to remain with the said Walter and his heirs, another with the said William and his successors, and the third with the abbot, prior and convent.
