son and heir of John Pyncheoun citizen and alderman of London,
to John Wakerynge, Henry Keys clerks, Robert Darcy, William
Hanyngfelde, William Totham, John Baryngton, John Snwkshille
and John Reynold. Grant of 40s. of yearly rent to be taken of
all their lands called Colmans, the marsh called Doveyerde and
Sandflete in the Isle of Caneve, in Pritelwelle, 'Estwodelegh' and
Reylegh co. Essex, under a condition that they shall have it during
the life of John Pritelwelle and Elizabeth his wife, if during their
lives a rent of 20 marks a year hereinafter mentioned shall be
sixteen weeks in arrear after any term, reciting a writing indented
whereby John Wakerynge and the others have demised to Thomas
Pyncheoun, Richard Baynard, Richard fitz Symond, Robert
Warner, Henry London and Richard Whityngton during the life
of the said John Pritelwelle and Elizabeth a messuage, a mill,
236 acres of land, 3 acres of pasture, 156 acres of wood, 140 acres
of marsh and 50s. 3d. of rent in Barwe, Thunderlegh and Little
Wakerynge subject to the said rent of 20 marks payable at
Pritelwell priory, the first term of payment to be at Easter next.
Proviso that William Gascoigne and the others shall not hereafter
be charged to John Wakerynge and the others by writ of annuity

Geoffrey Horne citizen and fishmonger of London and Margery
his wife daughter and heir of John de Croydoun citizen and

Courtenay chancellor of the university of Oxford to be in chancery
in the quinzaine of St. John Baptist next in order to shew cause
wherefore there ought not to be a stay pending the appeal of
Thomas Knyghtle of London, writ of supersedeas, and order by
mainprise of Stephen Lalleforde 'brewer,' William Geffrey
'brewer,' Richard Stowell 'wodemonger' and Richard Herlowe
'capper,' all of London, to set the appellant free, if taken; as at
the request of the said chancellor, signifying that by his authority
Thomas Knyghtle was excommunicated for contumacy, not
willing to be justified by censure of the church, the king ordered
the sheriffs to justify him by his body until he should content
holy church for his contempt and wrongdoing; but he has appealed
to Thomas archbishop of Canterbury and papal legate, and is
purposing to prosecute his appeal as he avers; and Stephen
Lalleforde and the others have mainperned in chancery to have
him there at the aforesaid day. |

supersedeas, by mainprise of John Polmorna, John Trewoyfe,
John Keleryoun and Richard Luky of Cornwall, in respect of
their demand upon John Cheyndyt, John Jaycoke late escheator
or the now escheator in Cornwall to account or answer for the
issues and profits of the manor of Bodannan and the members
thereof; as it is found by inquisition, taken before Roger
Trewythenek and Ralph Kaylle by virtue of a commission of
the king, that Thomas Cheyndit father of the said John, whose
heir he is, was seised of that manor with members called Tremore,
Seint Maudit and Trewerys, and died thereof seised, that John
his son entered the same as son and heir, and that he continued
his estate therein until seized into the king's hands by John
Jaycoke by colour of an inquisition before him taken at Lyskyerde
23 September 8 Henry IV; and the same are yet in the king's
hand, and John [Cheyndyt] is suing for removal of his hand, and
John Polmorna and the others have mainperned in chancery that
he shall prosecute proof of his right, and to answer for the said
issues and profits in case the same shall be adjudged to the king. |

Essex and John Swetnam of London 'taillour'; as the complaint
of John Grenfelde shews that before Richard Whityngton, then
mayor of the staple of Westminster deputed to take recognisances
of debt therein, he made a recognisance for 50l. to Thomas
Maynelle, that he paid 30l. thereof as by letters of acquittance
produced in chancery may appear, and after paid 20l. remaining,
as he is ready to prove, but that the said Thomas is unlawfully
suing execution of his lands and chattels for 50l., praying for
remedy; and John Herwarde and the others have mainperned
in chancery to have him there at the aforesaid day. |
