To the sheriff of Kent. Order at his peril upon sight etc. to cause proclamation to be a second time made of a statute made in the parliament holden at Westminster on 2 May last, making order that from Christmas eve then next no liege should receive in payment any money of English gold save by the weight appointed for the purpose, even as heretofore the king caused proclamation to be made; as the king's will is that this statute be brought to the fuller knowledge of all his lieges. William Ledes of Beverley co. York 'gentilman,' Thomas Pendee of Cicestre co. Sussex 'gentilman,' Walter Caketon 'vestmentmaker' and William Kyrkeby 'gentilman,' both of London, to the king. Recognisance for 100l., to be levied etc. in the counties and city aforesaid. (fn. 1)
Condition, that Philip Caxton or some other in his name shall within three months after demand made by Thomas duke of Exeter, or by another in his name having sufficient warrant in law, pay to the duke all sums of money and all arrears due by virtue of accounts by the said Philip rendered, and by virtue of accounts to be by him rendered about Easter next, or else William Ledes and the others, or the said Philip, shall within that time render or deliver his body to the Flete prison, there to abide until he shall pay the same, or shall be by the duke or his executors set free.
Memorandum of a mainprise under a pain of 40 marks, made in chancery 18 February this year by John Santon and John Orgaun of London mercer for John Goldyng and John Shirbroke esquires, that they shall sail in person to the king's presence in France, either of them with one lance and three archers in his company, truly to serve the king in his war there according to indentures to be made between the king and them.

Alexander de Farentinis and Francis Sarreylyn of the fellowship of the Albertini of Florence to the king. Recognisance for 500l., to be levied etc. in the city of London. (fn. 4)
Condition, that within nine months after any exchange by them or one of them made to the court of Rome or elsewhere up to the sum of 500l., they shall under pain of forfeiting the same buy within the realm merchandise of the staple, as wool, hides, woolfells, lead, tin, butter, cheese, cloth or other commodities of the land to the value of the sum exchanged, according to the statute published in the parliament last holden at Westminster. Protest by the said Alexander and Francis, that it is not their intent or mind to incur this pain in case within the time aforesaid they may not find such merchandise for sale in the realm.
