To the escheator in Yorkshire. Order to take the fealty of William Fitz Hugh knight, and to give him seisin of the advowson of a mediety of the church of Brynsale, but to remove the king's hand and meddle no further with the residue of the manors, lands, advowsons etc. hereinafter mentioned, delivering to the said William any issues thereof taken; as the king has learned by inquisition, taken by the escheator, that Henry Fitz Hugh knight at his death held in fee tail the manors of Thryngarth, Dent, Sedbergh and Staveley, the advowsons of the churches of Staveley and St. Rumald and of the said mediety, and seven tofts and seven bovates of land in 'Coldyngilby' by gift of William de Burneton to Hugh son of Henry and the heirs of his body by Aubrey his wife, that by the form of the gift the right descended to the said Henry as his cousin and heir, namely son of Henry son of Henry son of Henry son of the said Hugh and Aubrey, that he held likewise the manor of Berwyk upon Tese by gift of William de Burneton to Hugh son of Henry and to the said Aubrey and the heirs of their bodies, and that the right descended (as before), that he held likewise the manor of Thorp Understane by gift of Richard de Ravenswath chaplain and Alan de Burton, and the manors of Fremyngton, 'West Appilgarth' and 'Lytell Lemyng' by gift of Richard Page chaplain and Alan de Burton to Henry son of Henry son of Henry son of Hugh and to the heirs of his body, and that from him the right descended to Henry Fitz Hugh as his son and heir, that at his death Henry Fitz Hugh held in his demesne as of fee a messuage with croft adjacent in Dent called 'Stanhouse,' a moiety of the site of a mill in 'Estanfelde,' two thirds of the manor of Lirtyngton with the reversion of the third part held in dower by Adam (sic) Tirwhyte and Margaret his wife in her right, the manor of 'Est Appulgarth,' four burgages and two bovates of land in Richemonde, 10l. of rent of assize issuing from the manor of Ingilton in Lonesdale held by John (sic) Tirwhyte and Margaret his wife in her right, the patronage and advowson of Gervaux abbey and 30 acres of wood in Carleton called 'Coterelle wode,' that the advowson of the said moiety is held by knight service of the lord Clyfforde, the other manors, lands etc. of others than the king, and that William Fitz Hugh knight is son and next heir of the said Henry, and of full age.
