John erle of Huntyngdoun, now prisoner of the erle of Vendosme by wey of bying owt of the handes of Scottes, the wyche erle of Vendosme is prisoner to Sire John Cornewaille knyght by deliverance of the kynge and conseille, and oweth for raunceoun 46,665 escutz of gold, amounting to 11,665 ma[rks], to Sir John Cornewaille, his executors and assigns. Grant and release of the lord Gaucourt and the lord Touteville late the kynges prisoners, and alle payementz etc. hereinafter mentioned wyth owte empechement, and oath to performe alle articles hereinafter recited; as the erle can in no wyse make his deliverance owt of the hondes of the erle of Vendosme of lesse he deliver him owt of the hondes of John Cornewaille, who having compassion and willynge the hasty deliverance of the erle hath rebated of the finance of his prisoner 2,665 marks, and for the remenant hath receyved the prisoners Gaucourt and Touteville to the value of 5,000 marks, hath agreed to receyve by assignement of the king and conseill 1,750 marks of the issues etc. of the londes of John lord of Arundell in the kynges hondes by cause of his nonnage, and 300l. due to the erle for wages of constablerie of the Toure of London by assignement of the tresorer, also he hath receyved by the hondes of the bysshop of Duresme, William Halle, John Mason clerke and William Yerde esquier attornes generals of the erle in Englonde of the issues etc. of his londes 500 mark, and hath agreed hym to be contented by obligacions of the erle's cosins and frendes Humfrey erle of Stafforde, Henry Percy erle of Northumberland and Richard Nevile knyght 650 marks, of John Hals justice and William Alyngton esquier 200 marks, of William Halle sergeant of lawe 100 marks, of William Yerde esquier 100 marks, and of John Mason person of Chidyngston and Richard Ketforde citezein and sadeler of London 100 marks, the whiche sommes for the prisoners finance, in honde and in the obligacions amonteth to 8,850 marks, with owte the wyche the erle coughde in no wyse [be] delivered owt of prison. John Story of Taunton co. Somerset 'dyer' and John Spycer of Exeter co. Devon 'hosyer' to Peter Vyelle of Bordeaux 'marchaunt.' Recognisance for 100 marks, to be levied etc. in the counties aforesaid.
Condition, that they shall in person appear in chancery at the quinzaine of Michaelmas next, and that if John Hertwelle, William Irwelham, Nicholas Mayheu, John Trix, Thomas Brewode, Richard Claverynge and Robert Rumbald merchants of London shall at a day by the chancellor limited come and make oath upon the gospels that certain goods and merchandise contained in a petition by the said Peter presented to the king were bought of them to his use, the said John and John at a day by the chancellor to be fixed shall deliver the same to the petitioner if they exist, or the price thereof if they exist not, provided that John Spycer shall not sue for any protection to bar the petitioner from the same, and John Story shall not deliver to John Spycer a bond for 20l. wherein Robert Asshecombe is bound to him, nor shall John Spycer sue for the bond, nor demand nor receive the debt of Thomas Asshecombe.

Indenture of lease with warranty for ten years from 1 July 3 Henry VI, for a sum of money beforehand paid, of all manors, lands, rents and services which they have in Kent, Surrey, Herefordshire, Warwickshire and Dorset, rendering yearly one red rose at Midsummer, if demanded, to the lessors, their heirs and assigns. Indenture of defeasance of the foregoing bond, upon condition that Robert Ogle shall before 1 July next appear before auditors to be by the bishop appointed in the city of Durham, and render his account for the whole time that he was the bishop's constable, steward, sheriff and escheator in his liberty of 'Norhamschire' and 'Elandschire,' and shall without fraud and covin perform all that shall pertain to the account or to the order thereof, fully paying all that thereby shall be proved due to the bishop, or otherwise contenting him thereof. Condition, that he shall make an estate with clause of warranty to the said Robert and to the heirs of his body of all lands etc. in Wynterbourne Kyngeston co. Dorset which Robert Turbervyle knight, father of the said William, purchased from Robert Blockesworth, and of a yearly rent of 8 marks issuing from his manor of Combe Maresshall and of other his lands in Dorset upon fifteen day's warning at Kyngesbyre co. Dorset, as by the said Robert's counsel shall be advised.
Memorandum of a mainprise under a pain of 100l., made in chancery 9 July this year by Robert Alysaunder of 'Doulysshforde' co. Devon 'gentilman,' Robert Crukerne of Crukerne co. Somerset 'gentilman,' Thomas Aysshelden of Dertemouth 'gentilman' and John Boteler of Coleforde co. Devon 'yoman' for John Scorche of Wodebury co. Devon 'yoman,' that he shall in person appear in chancery in the quinzaine of Michaelmas next, and from day to day until from the court dismissed.

Condition, that Marcellus abbot of St. Augustine without the walls of Canterbury or his successors shall pay to the duke or his attorney, or to John Lorfevir, Walter Caftine and Robert de Bur merchants of Abvile, John le Mamer merchant of Boulogne and Colard de Lignies merchant of Bruges or their attorney on the feast of the purification next in the chancery at Westminster 177l., in full of 182l. wherein the abbot was condemned by judgment and award of the council at Westminster on the morrow of Midsummer last for unlawful capture of 74 tuns one pipe of wine of the said merchants in the Isle of Thanet co. Kent on the feast of the Conception last, and for unlawful detinue thereof from that day to the date of his condemnation, of which sum 20l. were adjudged to the merchants for costs. Proviso that the duke or the merchants or their attorneys shall deliver to the abbot etc. letters of proxy for receipt of the money and acquittances.
Cancelled, because the duke is contented of the sum above mentioned.
John Palyng citizen and goldsmith of London and Agnes his wife, daughter and heir of William Ive and Alice his wife, to Sir John Crowe clerk, John Bugge of Norffolk, John Wynne and Richard Holme citizens of London, their heirs and assigns. Charter with warranty of all the lands, rents and services with marshes, mills, gardens, hedges, ditches, ways, stews, waters, stanks, fisheries, wards, marriages, escheats, reversions etc. sometime of the said William and Alice in the towns and parishes of Dele, Wednesbergh, Estry, Worthe, Hamme, Norbourne, Esshe, Lymmynge, Reculvere, Gwodneston, Sholdone, Elham, Betillessangre and in the Isle of Tanet and elsewhere in Kent, which fell to the said Agnes by inheritance after their death. Richard Bokelonde of London esquire to the king. Recognisance for 1,000 marks, to be levied etc. in the city of London.
Condition, that before Christmas next he shall bring an acquittance for 1,000 marks, or two acquittances one for 300l. the other for 550 marks, either dated 14 February 3 Henry VI and sealed with the great seal, whereby he should receive the said sum or sums of James king of Scots in the late king's chancery.
Memorandum that on 12 December this year he did bring into chancery an acquittance of the above date made by the king to James king of Scots for 1,000 marks received by him as treasurer of Calais from the said king of Scots.

John lord Talbot knight, Robert Andrewe of Wiltesir and John Trokmarton of Worcestershire esquires to the king. Recognisance for 3,000l., to be levied etc. in the said counties.
Condition, that within half a year from this date they or one of them shall deliver to the keeper of the privy seal for the time being one part of indentures made between the king and Richard de Bello Campo earl of Warrewyk, sealed with the seal of the earl's arms, by virtue whereof the earl shall have under his command a hundred [men] at arms and three hundred archers in the service of the king over sea from 9 September next for term of half a year, the date whereof is Westminster 28 July this year, and the part sealed by the king with his privy seal remains in the said keeper's custody until the other part be sealed with the seal of the earl's arms and delivered to the said keeper.
Memorandum that on 25 October this year William Alnewyk keeper of the privy seal came in chancery and acknowledged that he received of the said John and John the part of the indentures above mentioned sealed with the earl's seal of arms.

Memorandum of a mainprise under a pain of 40 marks, made in chancery 27 June this year by John Tyrell, Lewis John, Thomas Stokdale of Essex esquires and Robert Elderbeke of Hertfordshire 'gentilman' for John Mountgomery knight, and of an undertaking by him under a pain of 40l., that he shall do or procure no hurt or harm to Robert Louthe of Hertfordshire esquire.
Memorandum of a like mainprise, mutatis mutandis, that day made by the said John Mountgomery, John Tyrell, Thomas and Robert Elderbeke for the said Lewis, and of a like undertaking by him.
