To the escheator in Yorkshire. Order in presence of the farmers
of the lands of Hugh de Thorp esquire, tenant by knight service
of Thomas brother and heir of John lord Roos a minor in ward of
the king, taken into the late king's hands by his death and by reason
of the nonage of John de Thorp his son and heir, or of the farmers'
attorneys, to assign dower to Grace who was wife of the said Hugh. |

To the escheator in Devon. Order to give John Cole esquire,
Thomas Pomeray knight and Joan his wife seisin of the dower of
Joan who was wife of John Pomeray knight; as upon the finding
of an inquisition, taken before William Cheyne and John Martyn
by virtue of the late king's commission to them and to William
Paulet and John Sparwe, that at his death John Pomeray held
the manor of Stokkelegh Pomeray and moieties of the manors of
Hurberton and Brixham in chief by knight service, and that the
said Joan wife of Thomas, being daughter of Joan one of his sisters,
and John Cole, being son of Margaret his other sister, are his
cousins and next heirs, and of full age, the king respited the
homage and fealty of John Cole for his purparty of the said manor
and moieties until a day now past, and ordered the then escheator
to take the fealty of the said Thomas, to take of John Cole and
Thomas security for payment of their relief at the exchequer, in
their presence or the presence of their attorneys to make a
partition of the premises into two equal parts, to give John Cole,
Thomas and Joan his wife seisin of their respective purparties,
saving the dower of the said Joan wife of John to be by that king
assigned, and to send that partition under seal to be enrolled in
chancery; and by another inquisition, taken before John Jaybyn
the late king's escheator, it is found that Joan wife of John at her
death held no lands in Devon of that king nor of any other in
demesne nor in service, and that she died on Thursday the feast
of Corpus Christi 8 Henry V. |

To Robert Wyntworth escheator in Yorkshire. Order to suffer
William de Haryngton, Christopher de Moresby knights Richard
Gascoigne, Hugh Salkelde, John Crakanthorp, William del Garth
and Thomas Skyrwith during a term of two years to have the castle,
manor and honour of Skipton in Craven, except the third part of two
thirds thereof held in dower by Elizabeth mother of John de
Clyfforde knight by endowment of Thomas de Clyfforde her
husband with reversion to Thomas son and heir of the said John,
and the issues thereof taken, meddling no further therein; as it is
found by inquisition, taken before the escheator by command of the
late king, that John de Clyfforde was seized thereof with the exception aforesaid in fee tail by virtue of a gift made by King Edward
II to Robert de Clifforde his ancestor whose heir he was, namely
father of Robert brother of Roger father of Thomas father of the
said John, and to the heirs of the body of that grantee, with reversion to the said king and to his heirs, that with licence of the late
king John Clyfforde by charter gave the same to William de
Haryngton and the others, their heirs and assigns, for term of his
life, and the late king granted them the ward thereof for two years
after John Clyfforde's death, if his heir should be within age at his
death, with all liberties and jurisdictions thereto pertaining, the
nonage of any of his heirs notwithstanding, and notwithstanding
any entail made before 7 May 3 Henry V, or any other cause
whereby that king or his heirs might demand the keeping thereof,
without disturbance or hindrance of the king or his heirs, his
officers or ministers whatsoever, and that John de Clyfforde died
13 March last. |

of Hugh Courtenay earl of Devon livery of the manors of Tyverton
extended at 45l. 6s. 6d. a year, Exmynstre at 10l. 6s. 6d., Topsham
at 17l. 6d., Churebeare at 42s., Chaluelegh at 21l. 11s. 4d.,
Nywenham (Newenham) at 4l. 7s. 8d., and Musebery at 20l. 5s., a
moiety of the fair of Crullediche with the profits thereof at 10s.,
a messuage and one carucate of land in Brokelontrelle and
Smalecombe at 33s. 4d., the hundreds of Tyverton at 40s., of
Exmynstre at 40s., of Harygge at 40s., a free fishery in the river
Exe at 10s., the perquisities of court of the borough of Tyverton
at 46s. 8d., and of Chaluelegh at 2s. a year, 18l. 6s. 8d. a year of
rent of the profits of the county by the sheriff's hands, 20l. 8s. 5½d.
of rent of assize issuing from divers burgesses of Tyverton, 8l. of
rent of the demesne lands of Holboghton, 40s. of rent of assize
of divers burgesses of Chaluelegh, and 58s. 5d. of rent of assize
of divers burgesses of Keneforde, which the king has assigned to
her in dower of the manors, lands etc. of her husband, taken into
the late king's hand by his death and by reason of the nonage of
Thomas his son and heir, having taken of her an oath etc.,
assigning to her also the manor of Hillesdoun co. Bukingham
extended at 14l. 13s. 4d. a year. |

To the escheator in Gloucestershire and the march of Wales
adjacent. Order to take the fealty of John Melleburne, and to
give him and Elizabeth his wife livery of a third part of the manor
of Westbury; as it is found by inquisition, taken before William
Tracy the younger the late king's escheator, that Isabel who was
wife of Richard de la Mare esquire, and late wife of John Eynseforde of Dyllyngton knight, at her death held for life that third
part, which was held in chief, with reversion to John de Merbury,
John Brugge and John Vyntier esquires, their heirs and assigns,
by grant of John Melleburne son of Peter de Melleburne esquire,
that in her life time she and the said Richard attorned tenants to
them, that they entered after her death, and without licence of the
king made a grant thereof to the said John Melleburne and Elizabeth, their heirs and assigns, and that the same is taken into the
king's hand by the death of the said Isabel and by reason of that
trespass; and for a fine paid in the hanaper the king has pardoned
those trespasses, and for half a mark there paid has respited the
homage of John Melleburne until Easter day next. |

To John Cerfe escheator in Northumberland. Order to give
Elizabeth late the wife of John de Clyfforde knight, whose fealty
the king has commanded the abbot of St. Mary York to take,
livery of the manor and lordship of Herter and Herternes, and
the issues thereof taken; as it is found by inqusition, taken before
the escheator by command of the late king, that John de Clyfforde
died thereof seised, being jointly enfeoffed with her by gift of
William de Haryngton knight and others to them and the heirs
of the said John's body, and that the same are held in chief by
knight service; and the late king made them a pardon and release
of all gifts, alienations and purchases of lands held in chief by
them made before 8 December 2 Henry V. |

To the escheator in Yorkshire. Order to remove the king's
hand and meddle no further with the manor of Maltby, delivering
to William de Haryngton knight, Christopher de Moresby esquire,
Thomas Skirwith, William del Garth and Thomas de Romondeby
chaplain any issues thereof taken; as it is found etc. (as the last)
that John de Clyfforde was seised of the said manor, that it was
held of the late king as of his duchy of Lancaster of his honour of
Tekhylle, that the said John after gave the same to William de
Haryngton and the others and to their heirs, that they were
thereof seised until his death, and have been in possession after
his death, having taken the issues and profits since that feoffment
was made. |

de Haryngton and the others by name of the manor of Severnstoke
and all lands, rents and services in Worcestershire. |

To the escheator in Kent. Order to take the fealties of John
Blere of Stourmouthe and Margaret Figge, and to give them seisin
of 6l. 2s. 3d. a year; as it is found by inquisition, before the
escheator taken by command of the late king, that Robert Figge
at his death held no lands in chief nor of others in demesne nor
in service, but took to him and his heirs 6l. 2s. 3d. a year of the
farm of the city of Canterbury by the hands of the bailiffs and
citizens for the time being, over and above the dower formerly
assigned to Margaret who was wife of Thomas Whetynden the
elder, and that assigned to Agnes who was wife of Thomas
Whetynden the younger, as the fourth part of 30l. a year falling
to him as one of the cousins and heirs of John son of William
Cundy, namely son of Margaret sometime wife of Robert Figge
the elder, her first husband, one of the daughters of Constance
Watership the third sister of William Cundy, which 30l. a year
King Edward III, by letters patent produced, gave to John son
of William Cundy of Sandwich and to his heirs for ever in recompense for the bailiwick of that town, 10l. to be taken at Easter
and the 20l. remaining at Michaelmas, and that Joan wife of
John Blere and Margaret Figge are his sisters and next heirs, the
said Joan being of the age of three and twenty and more, and
Margaret of nineteen and more. |

of Godfrey de Hilton knight the father due for the lands hereinafter mentioned and for other lands in other counties by him held
by the courtesy of England after the death of Hawise his wife,
and to give him livery of two thirds of the manor of Gamelston,
a messuage, two cottages and three bovates of land in Gamelston,
two messuages and three bovates of land in Basyngfelde, and two
messuages and five bovates of land in Torlaton, and the issues
thereof taken; as it is found by inquisition, taken before the
escheator, that at her death the said Hawise held the premises,
that the said two thirds were held of the late king in chief as of
the honour of Peverell, the messuages, cottages and land of others
than the king, that she and Godfrey had issue Godfrey and Hawise
both yet living, and that by reason of their issue Godfrey the
father claims to hold the same by the courtesy of England. |

Godfrey livery of two thirds of the manor of Irenham by the said
Hawise held in chief by knight service, and two thirds of six
messuages and eight virgates of land in Corby held of another
