John son of Thomas de Witton to Elizabeth dame de Clifforde, Joan dame Gascoigne, John de Ivelith clerk, Henry del Chaumbre and William Sharowe clerk, their heirs and assigns. Charter of a yearly rent of 20 marks to be taken of all the grantor's lands in 'Estwitton,' Ellyngstringe, 'Middildalton' and Ravenswath and in the territories thereof, and [in name] of possession he has given each of them 1d.; and power to enter and hold the said lands if the rent be in arrear and they may not have sufficient distress, or if they be thrust out with the strong hand. John Holmore to the abbot and convent of Abbotesbury co. Dorset. Release and surrender, by assent and command of the king for particular causes moving him and the council, of a corrody to him granted for life by the abbot and convent by letters patent under their common seal at the late king's request, which he has lost, to the intent that Thomas Pyry late janitor of the king's household may take the same every year during his life of and in the abbey at the king's request under the common seal of the abbey. Confirmation with warranty of the estate in the manor of Withcalle and all lands, rents and services of freeholders and neifs and all that goes with them, and all reversions whatsoever to the said William belonging in Wythcalle, Cokerynton, Halyngton, Welton and Louthe which they have to them and their heirs by his gift. Gift indented with warranty for life of the said Thomas of all his lands, rents and services in the town and parish of Kyngeston upon Thames co. Surrey, all which the grantor had jointly with Stephen Broun, Richard Osbarne, John Poly and John Maldoun grocers, citizens of London, who have made a release thereof to him, his heirs and assigns, by demise and feoffment of William Sevenoke citizen and grocer of London and by release of the said Thomas Boys, the grantee rendering to him and his heirs one rose at Midsummer, if demanded, repairing and maintaining at his own cost all houses, buildings and enclosures, with remainder after his death to the grantor, his heirs and assigns.
