Dec. 3.
Westminster.
John Cotyngham of Lunde upon the Wold co. York 'gentilman,' William Forster and Michael Pyvelle, both of Scardeburgh, to the king. Recognisance for 100l., to be levied etc. in Yorkshire. (fn. 1)
Condition, that Thomas Flesshewer and John Robynson shall appear in chancery within twenty days after warning given to John Shawe their attorney.
Memorandum that after warning to the said attorney on 6 February 10 Henry VI they did appear in person, namely 8 February.
Dec. 3.
Westminster.
The said John Cotyngham, William and Michael to the king. (Like) recognisance for 200 marks.
Condition, that within eighteen days the said Thomas and John Robynson shall at Scardeburgh deliver up to Thomas Wolfe and John Nicholson, complainants in chancery, all goods and merchandise by them and other their accomplices taken at sea in a ship of Flanders called the 'Busse,' whereof restitution is not yet made, or the value thereof if they exist not, with the said ship and all gear thereof, so that the owners be suffered therewith to pass whither they will, or else shall appear in person before the wardens of the marches of England and Scotland called in English 'Yestmarche,' or before their deputies, on the day of their next meeting after the Epiphany next, and prove that the ship and goods were lawfully and reasonably taken, and not contrary to the truce yet enduring between England and Scotland.
Memorandum that on 16 December at Scardeburgh Thomas Flesshewer, John Robynson and their accomplices did deliver up all the said goods etc., the said ship and gear, as may appear by a certificate sent by the bailiffs and commonalty of Scardeburgh under the common seal of that town to John archbishop of York the chancellor, and now on the chancery file for this year.
Thomas Awbyn and Alice his wife of Reygate co. Surrey to John Cowper 'skynner' of Reygate, his heirs and assigns. Charter with warranty of a messuage in Reygate between a messuage late of Thomas Dode on the west, a tenement of the chapel of St. Lawrence on the east, the castle ditch on the north and the high street through the midst of the town on the south, as shewn by metes and bounds. Witnesses: John Skynner, William Jurdaun, Roger Chaunce, Robert Wanforde, John Knyztt. Dated Reygate, the feast of St. James the Apostle 5 Henry VI.
Memorandum of acknowledgment at Reygate 10 December this year before the prior of Reygate, by virtue of a dedimus potestatem which is on the chancery file for this year.
1431.
Hugh Trap citizen and cordwainer of London to Richard Baret citizen and cordwainer, his executors and assigns. Gift of all the said Hugh's goods and chattels quick and dead, moveable and immovable within the realm and elsewhere, and all debts to him due. Dated London, 2 October 7 Henry VI.
Memorandum of acknowledgment in chancery at Westminster, 1 February this year.
