To the escheator in Kent. Order to give the next friend of John Broke to whom the inheritance ought not to descend livery of 3l. 9s. 5¼d. a year, and the issues thereof taken; as the king has learned by inquisition, taken by the escheator, that Robert Broke died seised of that yearly sum, which he took of the farm of the city of Canterbury by the hands of the bailiffs and citizens, namely 23s. 1¾d. at Easter and 46s. 3½d. at Michaelmas, as his purparty of 30l. a year which King Edward III granted to William son of John Cundy and to his heirs in recompense for the bailiwick of Sandewich, the said Robert being his cousin and one of his heirs, namely son of Joan daughter of Robert son of Margaret one of the daughters and heirs of Constance one of the sisters and heirs of the said William, that John Broke is his brother and next heir, and is of the age of five years and upwards, and that the said yearly sum is held in chief by fealty only for all services.
