Be it knowen þhat where certeyn variaunce and debate was had and moved bifore be day of these presents bitwene sir Reynold priour of the priorie of seint Barthilmewis in Westsmythfeld of London on pat on partie and Geffrey de la Vau on þhat other parte and in especiall for betyng and woundyng of þe said Geffrey, the said priour and Geffrey by þe mediacioun of thair frendes and by their owne assent and agrement put theyme to stonde to the dome ordinaunce and award of us þe said Thomas and John touchyng all variaunce querell and debates meved hadd or to be meved bitwene theyme and in especiall for þe betyng and woundyng a forseid so þhat þe said award were geven by us by fore þe first day of August the yere of kynge Henry þe sixte xxij. and everawther of þe said priour and Geffrey trewly to fulfill þe ward aforseid was bownden in xl. li., we the said Thomas and John takyng on us þe labour charge and besynes of all þe matiers aforseid by dewe examinacioun and evidens of bothe parties aforseid founde pat þe said priour was never gylty of þe betyng of þe said Geffrey by his abettyng concent ne steryng, never þe lees we fande divers of þe tenauntis of þe said priour in defaute after as we had informacioun by divers of þe contre wherfor we moved þe said priour in as moche as þe said Geffrey was a menall man of þe worshipfull howsold of our soveraigne lord þe kyng by wey of charite seyng þe gret hurt and hynderyng of þe said Geffrey and at þe reverens of oure soveraigne lord aforeseid the astatis of his house and the worshipfull feliship of þe same to gyve to þe seyd Gyffrey a competent annuite for terme of his lyffe to þe helpe and sustinaunce of þe said Geffrey at what tyme þe said priour agreed to abide owre awne dome and ordinaunce in þhat poynt and all other for the causes above specified, wherfore we willyng principally pees and unite to be hadd bytwne þe said priour and Geffrey and in especiall þe help and fortheryng of þe said Geffrey domen and award þhat they be full frendis and pees to be kepte and pat at what tyme þe said Geffrey and Felice his wiffe as in þe right of þe seid Felice aske and clayme in þe court of þe said priour hir dower of þe landis and tenementis pat were her former husbond pat pay be herd and sped as right and lawe requiret after þe custume of þe maner of þe said priour and ferthermore we dome and award pat þe said Geffrey by his dede sufficient in lawe make a generall relece in his name to pe said priour and his successours of all accions reall and personell and appell and it delivere to þe said priour by fore þe firste day aforesaid and pat relece so made and delivered then þe said priour and his covent shall graunte to þe said Geffrey an annuite of iiij. marcs to be payd at þe festes of Michelmasse and Ester by even porcions by theire dede endented sufficient in lawe þe tone part enseled under the covent seal the tother part to be enseled by þe said Geffrey and then pat don þe said priour shall forgyve to þe said Geffrey ix. marcs pat is dewe to þe said priour and make to hym a sufficient relece of all maner of accions.
