March 5.
Coventry.
To the mayor and bailiffs of the city of Dublin in Ireland for the time being. Order, under pain of forfeiting 10l. for every default of more than forty days, to pay to Robert Ufford esquire 10l. a year for life, which by letters patent of 4 March, 24 Henry VI, the king granted him for his life of the fee farm of that city, and by authority of a parliament holden at Drogheda on Friday after St. Benedict the Abbot, 29 Henry VI, did confirm the same, making a further gift thereof by letters patent of 12 July that year; as by his petition the king has learned that he had to render 4l. a year to the mayor and bailiffs before he may have any payment, so that the 10l. exceeds not 6l. a year for maintenance of himself and his servants over and above his costs, and the king's desire is that due and ready payment be made him.

To the sheriff of York for the time being. Order to pay to Lawrence Werham the king's serjeant, under clerk of his kitchen, during his life the wages due and accustomed for the offices of janitor of York castle and keeper of the gaol thereof, and the arrears since 3 March, 34 Henry VI, on which date the king granted to him those offices for life, to be occupied by himself or by deputy with the wages aforesaid, to be taken of the issues, profits etc. of that county, and with the fees, profits, revenues and advantages thereto belonging.
