Notarial instrument, being a declaration of Nicholas Wodehille the elder, late of the city of London and now of Westminster goldesmyth, being infirm and sick but of sound mind, made 10 October, 1454, indiction III, 8 pope Nicholas V, and 33 Henry VI in his own house in the parish of St. Margaret Westminster in presence of Robert Percy clerk of the diocese of Norwich, notary public and registrar of the archdeaconry court of Westminster abbey, and of Nicholas Wodehyll surgeon of London his son, as witnessed by Edmund Downe archdeacon of the said abbey which pertains not to the papal see, be the othe that he had made, that James Wodehill his fader and Anneys his moder lefte unto him and to his heires all their londes, rentes and servicez in the parisshes of Lymynge and Elmestede co. Kent, that they aliened never no parcell thereof, but as it was told him be men of the same contrey that it was his faders will that Edmond his bastard brother shuld have had a feld called Petfeld, his moder told him that it was not soo, but that he the said son and heir and his heires shuld have Petfeld, that he knewe never ne sawe by any writyng be his fader or moder, be bede, will, feffement or testament wherby Edmond shuld have it, that Edmond after the deceas of the seid James and Agnes, toke him in governaunce and all his lyvelode and evydences and godes, and rulid it as hym list, and with the profitz brought hym selfe out of dette, and bonde Nicholas apprentice to goldsmythescrafte to William Louthe citezein and goldsmyth of London, that then he was aboute ten yere of age, that at his nonnage he had him fro his maister home to see his levelode, and yave him a newe doublet, and enduced him to seale a dede of feffement to put Edmond in possession of Petfeld, be whiche it is kept fro him and his heires, that his son toke a sute as rightfull heir for his right ayenst William Swayn, that Richard Croft, attourne of William Swayn, come to Westminster desiryng him that he shuld sey no worde that shuld availe his son in the plee, and promysed to gete him a general acquitaunce of John Seincler squier and William Barbour gentilman of Feveresham for al he stoud endaungered unto theym, that he kept his promyse to Richard Croft, yet he kept not his, to the hurt of the list and his disheritson of Petfelde, and that wher it is said that the said Nicholas shuld sey to Walter Moyle than sergeant of lawe, Thomas Hardys and John Martyn of Kent that his son shuld have noo title to Petfelde, if he seid than anythyng ayenst consciens and right, or ayenst his heires, as he did for unkyndenes that he thought his son shewed him, his consciens meveth him to seye that he knewe never ner yet knowes anythyng for to abarre him or his heires from their right in Petfeld or any parcell of the forseid londes, as he will answerr athe day of dome. Dated 20 November, 33 Henry VI.
John Ederych of Bradewell 'husbondman,' to Simon Davy of Bradewell. Bond in 40l. payable at Christmas day next. Dated (as the last).
Condition, that neither he and Alice his wife nor any to their use and profit shall by their order disturb or trouble Simon Davy, his heirs or assigns as to the title or possession of the lands in Bradewell and Wodeham Mortymer sometime of William Davy his father.

Memorandum of a mainprise body for body, made in chancery 5 February, 33 Henry VI, by Humphrey duke of Bukyngham, James earl of Wiltesir, Thomas de Roos and William de Fitzwaren (sic) knights, for Edmund duke of Somerset in prison in the Tower of London in custody of the constable by command of the king and council, to have him at Westminster on the morrow of All Souls next before the king and council or the chancellor, in order to answer touching what shall be laid against him.

Charter of the manor of Mote, all lands, rents and services in Sussex called 'Rigge' and 'Frensshecourt,' and all lands in Bourne which (among other lands) they had jointly with Richard Wodevyle now deceased, by feoffment of the said knight, by name of all manors, lands, rents and services in Kent, Sussex and Oxfordshire; and charter of demise of John the son, and to the heirs of his body, with remainder to the right heirs of the said knight, of the manors of Thevegate co. Memorandum that he did appear that day at Westminster in the Star Chamber, as Master Thomas Kent clerk of the council did certify in chancery at the king's command, as appears by the king's writ and the return thereof, which are upon the chancery file.
Memorandum of an acknowledgment made 15 December, 33 Henry VI, before the king and council by Herry Johnson merchant of Flanders (text follows), in chauncery in presence of the maister of the roll, that he is satisfied of all dewtees growyng unto him by Walter Raylegh by weye of accion or other wise.
