Indenture between Charles lord Herbert, Thomas Lovell knight, treasurer of the Household, and Edmund Dudley and Henry Wyat esquires on the part of the king, and 'Cecile lady marquesse Dorsett' and Henry Stafford: whereas by the due order of the laws of England the fine for the king's licence for the marriage of the said Cicely and Henry would amount to right great and chargeable sums of money, he is content to accept 2,000l.; 1,000l. to be in the form of an obligation of Henry, to be voided on condition that during his life he 'demeane and behave hymself truely to oure said souverain lord and to his heires and not to be reteigned or towardes any other persoune' otherwise than shall stand with the king's pleasure; for the other 1,000l. the king, 'not willing the said lady and Henry to be greved with the hasty or sodeyn paiement of the same nor that their honorable poort and countenaunce therby shuld mynisshe or decaye, hath graunted unto theym fyve yeres day of paiement' by sums of 100l. at successive feasts of Christmas and St. John Baptist; in case of default the first-named parties may distrain on the manors and lordships of Elford Combe, Woodebury, Lischambernon, Churystanton, Kentes Beate Marie, Brendon, Nastone, Beweton, West Assheford, Colrigge, Torrigge, Wodeford and Pokyngton, which are hereby affirmed to be of the clear yearly value of 400 m. Release and quitclaim with warranty, to the use of John Gardyner gentleman, his heirs and assigns, of Manewden manor with 12 messuages, 10 tofts, 400 a. land, 12 a. meadow, 200 a. pasture, 40 a. wood and 10l. rent in Manewden, Stansted Mountfichet, Bierden, Ugley and Farnham, co. Essex, which they recovered in Easter term, 20 Henry VII, against Richard Broke, Henry Wodecok and Roland Morton gentlemen, John Bende the younger, Thomas Lambert and William Baker, who vouched to warranty the said Thomas Bassyngbourne, who vouched John his son and heir apparent, who vouched Thomas Fisshe. Indenture between Richard earl of Kent and Sir John Huse knight: whereas in Trinity term, 15 Henry VII, Giles Daubeney lord Daubeney, Thomas Lovell, John Fyssher, justice of the Common Pleas, James Hobart and Richard Emson knights, Thomas Lucas and William Gascoigne, together with Reynold Bray and John Mordaunt knights and Richard Godfray since deceased, recovered against George late earl of Kent, the present earl's father, the manors of Northwode, Brokburgh, Podyngton, Relegh, Camelton, Shefford, Clophull, Caynho, Brobury, Wrast and Flytt co. Bedford, Grete Snelston co. Buckingham, Yerdley co. Northampton and Wynferthyng (fn. 1) co. Norfolk to the use and for surety of payment of certain moneys then owed by him to the king; and whereas the said John Fyssher and divers cofeoffees now stand seised of the manors of Brampton co. Huntingdon and Harold co. Bedford, which the present earl now has together with the other premises by inheritance; the earl grants to Sir John Huse, in consideration of 2,000 m. paid to him on his marriage and for the great love and favour he has in dame Elizabeth his wife, that the said recoverers and the said feoffees shall stand seised of the premises to the use of the earl and dame Elizabeth and his heirs; after payment of the debt to the king, they shall make estate accordingly at such time as Sir John shall require; bond in 1,000l. for performance. Release and quitclaim for a certain sum in hand of annual rents of 5l. 13s. 4d. and 6l. 6s. 8d. issuing from his lands and tenements in Eppyng co. Essex called 'Gyllys' granted by him with right of distress to John and Maud by indented charter dated 19 Oct., 19 Henry VII, the former for term of 7 years from Michaelmas 1505 and determinable on the death of both grantees, the latter for term of their lives from Michaelmas 1512. Indenture between Cicely marchioness of Dorset and lord Harry Stafford: in consideration that he has troth plighted and promised to take her to wife, she grants to him, if her son the present marquess should die leaving heirs male of his body, a life interest in all her lands not specified in previous indentures (Nos. 414, 435) with remainder as in the former (No. 414), and to the feoffees named in the latter (No. 435) for life of the longest liver the manors of Tremwell co. Cornwall and Colrigge co. Devon to the yearly value of 100 m. or under for the performance of her will and lord Harry's. Sealed 18 April, 20 Henry VII.

Indenture between Thomas Lovell, James Hobart and Richard Emson knights and Edmund Dudley and Henry Wyot on the part of the king, and Edward Hastynges knight lord Hastynges and Hungreford. Whereas the king, as in the right of William now viscount, Beamount, makes claim to the manors and lordships of Baroo alias Baro upon Sore co. Leicester and Lee alias Leefeld co. Rutland with appurtenances, the office of warden of the game and woods in Leefeld alias Rutland forest, the mastership of Ridlington park co. Rutland and a mese and certain 'howsynges' in Tammystrete, London, sometime called 'Newe Inne' alias 'Beamontes Inne' alias 'Bardolfes Inne,' in which premises lord Hastynges claims state of inheritance and fee simple and whereof he is now in possession; and also to the manors and lordships of Hekyngton, Welburn, Byker, Lavington and Avethorp co. Lincoln and Edmonton alias Willoughbies Maner in Edelmanton co. Middlesex and a parcel of the honor of Wynchestre fee in cos. Leicester and Warwick, which descended to William after the death of his father and were restored to him by act of Parliament in 1 Henry VII and are claimed by lord Hastynges for term of life of a joint lease made after the restitution by William to him and dame Katharine his mother; both claims have been well heard before the king's justices and others of his learned counsel and the parties have agreed as follows: Hastynges shall have to him and his heirs the manors etc. in Leicestershire and Rutland and the housings in Thammystrete, receiving the evidences and such surety as shall be advised; he shall also hold for life of the king's grant the manor of Edmonton and the said part of the honor with revenues from his mother's death, from which part one Thomas Jakes of the Inner Temple, gentleman, shall receive an annuity of 40s. from her death; and he shall make surety for performance in the lands in Lincolnshire as far as his interest extends; and for this he shall pay the king 1,000l. by five instalments, finding sufficient sureties to be bound by statute staple.
