Sept. 24.
Westminster.
To R. bishop of Coventre and Lichefeld, his commissaries and other ecclesiastical persons whatsoever holding any dignity or office to whom etc. Prohibition of any attempt which may tend to disherison of the king or crown, or to impair the liberties and immunities of his free chapel within Shrewsbury castle and of the members thereof, and order at their peril to revoke any such attempt made; as the same are exempt from all ordinary jurisdiction, and the king is informed that the bishop and his commissaries are striving to exercise such jurisdiction therein, and in contempt of the king cease not to trouble his ministers there.

To William Hastynges escheator in Suffolk. Order to give John son of Richard Filioll knight, John de Rokewode, Roger de Wolfreston and John Rokele livery of the manor of Asshefelde with the issues thereof taken since the death of Richard de Pakenham; as the king has learned by inquisition, taken by the escheator, that by fine levied in the king's court with his licence Richard de Pakenham at his death held the same for life by gift of John Coue parson of Berdewelle and John Martelle to him and Joan his wife, likewise deceased, with remainder to the said John son of Richard and the others and to their heirs, and that the manor is held in chief by knight service, by the service of paying 16s. a year to Norwich castle, and by suit to Blakebourne hundred every three weeks, except one carucate of land, 8 acres of meadow, 24 acres of wood and 50s. of yearly rent therein which are held of others than the king; and for 40s. by them paid in the hanaper the king has respited the homage and fealty of the said John son of Richard and the others until Midsummer next.
