of the provostship or chantry of Cotherstoke, the services of the
provost and chaplains of the house and of their successors, and the
right of patronage or any other right which the grantor may have in
the said advowson or the possessions belonging to the provost and
chaplains, reciting a charter whereby John son of Roger Giffard, being
cousin and heir of Sir John Giffard the first founder, gave the said
advowson, services etc. to John son of Richard Knyvet the elder
(seniori) father of the now grantor, his heirs and assigns, which charter
is enrolled in the Common Bench, roll 2 of charters and protections
for Michaelmas term 31 Edward III, and an attornment by the provost
and chaplains to the said John son of Richard. Witnesses: William
