Westminster.
To the mayor and sheriffs of London. Strict order at their peril to cause proclamation to be made, forbidding under pain of forfeiture any of the merchants, masters or seamen of divers ships in the port of London laded with wool, hides and woolfells to be taken to Midelburgh to pass thither until all be ready to sail together in the greatest force they may, in order to resist the king's enemies of France and their adherents; as the king has learned that great number of merchants of the realm and others have there laded ships as aforesaid, and that others are minded so to do, and it is his will to make provision for their safe passage. By C.
To the customers in the port of London. Order to keep in their hands letters of cocket of the merchants aforesaid, and to keep the said ships under arrest until all be ready, on the king's behalf directing all the merchants, masters and seamen for their safe passage under pain of forfeiture to make ready and array themselves in the strongest manner they may to resist the said enemies.
