Sir Matthew de Gourney knight of the one part, and Margaret countess of Devon, Dame Cicely Turburville, William Boneville knight, Walter Clopton, Robert Asshefeld, John Pyshale clerk and Roger Wolferston of the other part. Indenture of defeasance of a yearly rent of 1,000l. granted by Sir John de Beauchamp of Somerset knight one of whose heirs Dame Cicely is to Sir Matthew in fee, to be taken of all his lands etc. in England, by a deed produced by Sir Matthew which the other parties do not acknowledge, and of the said deed, in case Sir Matthew, his heirs or assigns, or any other by their commandment or prayer or by covin with them shall take distress in the manors of Hacche Beauchamp, Capelond, Shepton Beauchamp or Miryfeld co. Somerset, Littelhawe co. Suffolk, Boltebury, Hurberton or the moieties of the manors of Silferton co. Devon, Littelton co. Middlesex or Sellynges co. Kent belonging to Dame Cicely's purparty after she has made a feoffment of the moiety of the manors of Stoke under Hameden with the patronage of the chapel there, all she has in the manor and the advowson (le noweson) of Shepton Malet co. Somerset and the moiety of the manor and advowson of Sheperton co. Middlesex according to other indentures between Sir William de Beauchamp and Sir Matthew of the one part and Dame Cicely and Sir William Ley clerk of the other part, or during her life in the moiety of the manor of Stokelyng co. Somerset belonging to her purparty after the death of John de Beauchamp, or in case he or they shall in time to come appear in person or by attorney in any court of record to recover or demand the said rent of any tenants of the lands before mentioned because of their possession of the same, the manor of Stokelynch after the death of Dame Cicely only excepted; with proviso that Sir Matthew shall not be debarred from taking distresses in the moieties of the said manors of Littelton and Stokelynch if the tenants thereof shall hinder him from having execution of a statute merchant for 2,000l. made by Sir John Beauchamp.
