Jan. 4.
Westminster.
To the sheriff of Warrewyk and Leycester. Order, upon petition of Thomas de Wodestoke duke of Gloucester, Henry earl of Derby, Richard earl of Arundell, Thomas earl of Warrewyk and Thomas earl of Notyngham, who before the king and council have appealed Alexander archbishop of York, Robert de Veer duke of Ireland, Michael de la Pole earl of Suffolk, Robert Tresilian and Nicholas Brembre knights of treasons affecting the king and the estate of the realm, and have offered to prosecute their appeal in the next parliament summoned at Westminster on the morrow of the Purification next, to cause proclamation to be made that the archbishop and the others under pain of forfeiture shall appear in person at the day of that parliament to answer touching the appeal, and under the same pain that no man shall do them hurt in body or goods to prevent them from so appearing; and order for particular causes laid before the council to put all goods and chattels of theirs wheresoever found in safe keeping until further order of the king and council, and nevertheless to arrest the said duke of Ireland, earl of Suffolk and Robert, who are fugitives for this cause it is said, and to cause them to come before the king and council in parliament at the day named, bringing this writ, and certifying the king and council with all speed what they have done at this command and how, and where be such goods, their description, price and value, with a copy of this writ. John Henlee (as above) and Peter Stapilton clerk. Indenture of defeasance of the foregoing recognisance, upon condition that the said Peter shall no more implead or trouble the said John touching the possession or right in his church of Seggesfelde. Dated Westminster, 25 January 11 Richard II.
Memorandum of acknowledgment by the said John in chancery at Westminster, 27 January.
