To the treasurer and the barons of the exchequer. Writ of supersedeas in respect of their demand against Thomas duke of Gloucestre to answer for a yearly farm of 180l. 11s. 4d. for the manors of Burneham, Wodeham Wauter, Little Donemowe, Henham and Reyndoun co. Essex late of Walter Fitz Wauter of Wodeham knight, although on 15 July 11 Richard II the king committed to him the wardship of the same at that rent, being in the king's hand by the said Walter's death and by reason of the nonage of his heir, from Midsummer then last until the lawful age of the heir, and order to discharge the said duke and other the farmers and tenants thereof; as John bishop of Hereford the treasurer, recollecting a bargain made between him and the duke, has borne witness before the king that the duke should have to farm for 158l. 13s. 8d. (sic) a year the manors aforesaid with a hamlet called Ultynge and a moiety of the lordship of Maldoun, which by inadvertence are omitted in the king's letters patent; and the duke having given up those letters patent in chancery to be cancelled, by other letters patent of the aforesaid date the king committed to him the wardship of the said manors, hamlet and moiety from Midsummer aforesaid at the rent above mentioned, maintaining the houses and buildings to the same pertaining and bearing all charges, 40l. a year being allowed of his farm for maintenance of the heir. Proviso that answer be made by the duke for the farm of 158l. 13s. 4d. (sic) a year.

Writ of supersedeas in respect of their demand against the prior and convent of the abbey of St. Augustine Canterbury for the moiety of a tenth granted to the king by the clergy of the province of Canterbury in the parliament last holden at Cantebrigge upon the temporalities of the abbey, which are in the king's hand by reason of the last abbot's death, and order thereof to discharge them and the collectors; as at the petition of the prior and convent, in consideration that the abbey is of the foundation of his forefathers and of his patronage, and is burdened with debt, with assent of the council the king has pardoned them the same. Quitclaim of thirty messuages, twenty shops, six solars, twelve cellars, 34 acres of land, 10 acres of meadow, 60s. of rent and a fishery in the river Thames in Oxford and the suburbs thereof in Oxfordshire, and the advowson of 'Stodleyes chaunterye' in All Saints church Oxford, and of sixteen messuages, 6 acres of meadow and 100s. of rent in the suburb of Oxford in Berkshire, all late of John de Stodleye burgess of Oxford deceased, which came as forfeit to the king's hands by reason of a judgment rendered in the parliament last holden at Westminster against Robert Tresilian knight deceased, and of all other lands, rents etc. in those counties which came to the king's hands by his forfeiture. To the sheriff of Gloucester. Order, upon petition of Robert Banoke chaplain, William Colerne and John Rothewelle, by mainprise of John Derhurste, John Taunton, Roger Capys, Richard Derlynge and John Panter of Gloucestershire to set them free, making proclamation meanwhile in the county [court] that any man who will sue for the king or for himself shall be in chancery three weeks after Easter; as their petition shews that lately the king commanded Thomas de Berkele one of the guardians of the peace in Gloucestershire to cause proclamation to be made at Wodeforde and elsewhere, forbidding any man of whatsoever estate or condition to go there in arms, lead an armed power, or do aught there which might tend to breach of the peace or of the statute of Norhampton concerning the bearing of arms, or whereby any of the people might be put in fear or aggrieved, under the pain in that statute contained, ordering him to arrest and imprison until the king should take other order for their deliverance any he should find so doing after the proclamation, and any whom by inquisition or otherwise he should find to have done or attempted aught contrary to the proclamation or the statute aforesaid, and the arms and armour found with them, and shews that the said Thomas arrested the petitioners, and delivered them to the sheriff's custody in the gaol of Gloucestre castle, and that they are ready to answer the king and others who will complain, and to stand to right in all things; and John Derhurst and the others have mainperned in chancery body for body and under a pain of 20l. to have them there on the aforesaid day so to answer etc.
