John de Fretheby abbot of Vaudey and the convent to Sir John la Warre and to his heirs. Grant and bond in consideration of a gift to them lately made by John la Warre knight, Roger de Gayton parson of Wath and John Wolde parson of Claypole, with licence of the king and of other the lords concerned, of certain lands in Ingoldesby and Lavyngton, to perform the will of John le Warre and of Elizabeth his wife, and for many benefits received of them and of Simon Symeon deceased and of the ancestors of Elizabeth, at their own cost to find a secular chaplain, not otherwise advanced, to celebrate in the parish church of Edenham masses, placebo, dirige and other offices for the souls of the said John la Warre, Elizabeth and Simon, of Gilbert de Nevyle knight, Katherine his wife and all their ancestors, and of the faithful departed, beginning immediately after the death of John la Warre, if it may conveniently be done, or at least within forty days, submitting themselves to the bishop of Lincoln for the time being, that at suit or complaint of Master Thomas la Warre or his heirs or of any parishioner of Edenham, notwithstanding any privileges of theirs or of their order now or hereafter obtained or granted, he may by censure of the church compel them upon every default so to do: covenant and bond in 20l. for every default, to be given to the bishop's alms, and if six weeks in default, for every such default to pay 40s. to Master Thomas la Warre brother of the said John and to his heirs, and power to them to distrain for such forfeit upon all the lands which the convent have by the aforesaid gift, and upon all other their lands in Lincolnshire, and if eight weeks in default, for every such default to pay 60s. to Sir John lord of Welle and his heirs, with like power to distrain, and if ten weeks in default, for every such default to pay 4l. to John Bussy knight and his heirs, with like power to distrain, and if twelve weeks in default, for every such default to pay 100s. to the king and his heirs, with like power to distrain. To the treasurer and the barons of the exchequer. Order to take of Henry Somenour a reasonable fine for entering upon the possession of the king, and to stay their demand upon him to account or answer for the issues of a messuage, 100 acres of land, meadow, pasture and wood in Fynchyngfelde since they were first taken into the king's hand, removing the king's hand, discharging the said Henry and others whatsoever, and setting him free if imprisoned for that cause; as it is found by inquisition, taken before John Welde the late king's escheator in Essex, that on the day he became a fugitive the said Henry had the premises, which were held in chief by the service of petty serjeanty, yearly value 5 marks beyond reprises, and that on the date of the felony for which he became a fugitive he had an estate thereof in his demesne as of fee; and on 16 November 3 Richard II by a mainprise the king committed the keeping thereof for a set farm to Stephen Wyndesore for three years from Michaelmas 2 Richard II; and upon an information that the said Stephen was dead and had not contented the king of his farm, and that after his death divers men entered the premises and, without obtaining licence of the king, took the issues and profits thereof arising, the king after ordered the sheriff to take the same into his hand, answering to him for the issues thereof until further order, and to make inquisition on what date the said Stephen died, who occupied the same since his death taking the issues and profits, by what title, and how, and upon the sheriff's return that he so did, and upon the finding of an inquisition by him taken, that from the said Stephen's death the said Henry occupied the premises, claiming them as his own, and that Stephen died 18 June 4 Richard II, the king ordered the then sheriff of Essex and Hertfordshire to take the said Henry, so as to have him before the said barons at a day past to render account of the issues from Stephen's death to the date when John Walton late sheriff took the premises into the king's hand, and to answer for his intrusion upon the king's possession; and at that day he was by the now sheriff of Essex brought before the barons in the exchequer, and is by them committed to the Flete prison, there to abide until he shall content the king, as the king is assured by certificate of the barons sent into chancery; and after full deliberation the king reckons the cause for taking the premises into his hand insufficient.

Writ of supersedeas omnino in respect of any process against Thomas Chelrey, then escheator in Berkshire, appointed with others to make inquisition there concerning the yearly value of the manor of Langle and Bradele in chief and in singular their members, parcels and appurtenances, who held the said manors, members etc. for life, and other the circumstances, but order to proceed against others who did meddle therein; as he has made oath in chancery that that commission was not delivered to him, neither did he meddle in aught therein contained. Writ of supersedeas in respect of any process against Robert Cornu knight, appointed with others to make inquisition in Somerset how much land Peter de Bratton at his death held in chief, and how much of others, by what service, the yearly value thereof, the time of his death, who is his next heir and of what age, who occupied his lands after his death, by what title and how, for delivery of estreats of their sessions, or for his certificate, and order to discharge him; as he has made oath in chancery that he never received that commission, neither did he meddle in the execution thereof.
