To the sheriffs of London. Writ of supersedeas, and order by mainprise of William Hornyngton, William Russell, Robert Cragge of London and Henry Morecrofte of York to set free Thomas atte Lathe, if taken at suit of the king and John de Thorp for leaving the said John's service at London before the term agreed.

To the sheriffs of London. Writ of supersedeas, by mainprise of William Wardale of Huntingdonshire, John Glasyere of Northampton and John Yorke of Lincolnshire, in favour of Hugh Fairfax of Paunton at suit of James Alblaster esquire for debt.

William Clerk of Gedelynge to Walter Asshe. Recognisance for 20l., to be levied etc. in Notynghamshire.
Defeasance thereof, upon condition that the said William make an estate to Robert Broustere and Alice his wife, late the wife of Ralph Cooke, for life of the said Alice, in a tenement called 'the Place atte Crosse' late of the said Alice, and give security for payment to them during her life of half a mark a year of lands etc. in Sneynton which were of the said Ralph, and that they shall have the moiety of all the said Ralph's debts now or hereafter levied.

Like writs to the dukes of York and Gloucestre, Edward earl of Roteland, nine other earls including Henry earl of Derby, Thomas Bardolf of Wyrmegeye, and 38 others, of whom two only are styled chivaler.

To the sheriff of Kent. Order to cause two knights of the shire girt with the sword, two citizens of every city and two burgesses of every borough to be elected and come to the said parliament. The king's will is that the sheriff be not elected, nor any other sheriff.

Writ of supersedeas until the quinzaine of Easter next in respect of their demand upon Thomas Kempe late escheator in Kent and Richard Skip now escheator to answer or account for the issues of the manor of Wightresham; as a plea concerning that manor is pending in chancery between the king and Sampson Grenewiche and Margery his wife, whether it ought to pertain to the king or to them.

Writ of supersedeas, by mainprise of William Styrkeharde, John Morker of Yorkshire, John Barnaby of Lincolnshire and William Assheburne the younger of Warwickshire, in favour of Henry Chaloner the younger and John Cressevylle at suit of Henry Assheburne clerk for several debts.

To Walter Clopton and his fellows, justices appointed to hold pleas before the king. Writ of supersedeas until further order in respect of the execution of indictments at suit of the king or of others pending over the foresters or other ministers of Shirewode forest for chiminage taken within the forest.

York.
To the treasurer and the barons of the exchequer. Writ of supersedeas omnino in respect of any process against William de Selby, Thomas Graa, Thomas de Howome, Thomas Thurkill, John de Berden, Robert Savage, John de Ripoun, Thomas Smyth, Thomas de Stanley and William de Tykhille, appointed with others guardians of the peace and to keep the statutes of Winchester, Norhampton and Westminster concerning the peace in the city and suburbs of York, and order to release any distress upon them made, proceeding nevertheless against others who did meddle therein; as they received not that commission, and meddled in nought therein contained, as they have averred in chancery upon their word.
July 8.
Nottingham.
To the sheriff of Leycester. Writ of supersedeas, by mainprise of John Wryght of Wilford, Nicholas Glasier of Lenton, John Warde and Robert Wright, both of Wilford of Notynghamshire, in favour of Richard Wilford parson of Kylmondcote at suit of William Horndoun of Stanford chaplain for debt.

York.
To the treasurer and the barons of the exchequer. Order, upon petition of Alan Stouters late reeve of Danby in the lordship of Richemond co. York, to search the rolls and memoranda of the exchequer and, if assured that his petition contains the truth, to stay the levy of the sum of him demanded, making restitution of 4l. 16s. to Joan who was wife of John Darell; as the reeve has shewn the king that in his account last rendered in the exchequer he was in arrears for 4l. 16s. by him laid out upon the repair of a windmill there without warrant, and might not therefore have allowance for that payment, that John Darell deceased, late receiver of the king's moneys in that lordship, was therewith charged in his account, and that although the said Joan, being her husband's executrix, contented the king thereof, and although the said Alan, knowing not that the said John was therewith charged, after obtained a writ of privy seal for allowance thereof, and had allowance thereof accordingly, the said Joan has obtained out of the exchequer a writ of constat for levying the same of him, and so he is unlawfully distrained for the same. To Maurice Russell. Writ of supersedeas omnino, by mainprise of Thomas Eode, Thomas Causford and John Cole of Gloucestershire, in respect of the execution of the king's commission appointing him, for particular causes laid before the council, to arrest Thomas Cole under sheriff of Gloucester, and straightway bring him before the king and council in chancery.
Memorandum of a mainprise under a pain of 40l., made in chancery 12 August this year by James Turgys and William Ogham of Notynghamshire for John Longe, that he shall do or procure no hurt or harm to Thomas Belamy.
Memorandum of a like mainprise, mutatis mutandis, that day made by William Mody and Hugh Belamy of the same county for Thomas Belamy in regard to John Longe.

Windsor.
To the sheriffs of London. Order to take of Lionel Gauter merchant of Genoa (Janua) security under a pain of 400l. to have him in the exchequer at the quinzaine of Michaelmas in order to answer touching the matters hereinafter mentioned, and to stay until then the further execution of the king's writ ordering the sheriffs to attach him and his mainpernors so as to have them that day before the barons of the exchequer at York to answer for their contempt, taking into the king's hand all their lands, goods and chattels, so as to answer at the king's will for their goods and the issues of their lands, and order by such security to dearrest him and his mainpernors, their lands and goods, if so arrested; as on 2 May last the said Lionel was impeached before the treasurer and the said barons for having brought within the realm divers precious stones to the value of 400l., and having there sold them in deceit of the king without payment of custom or subsidy; and he said that at that time he had not information to answer, by colour whereof a day was given him on the morrow of the Ascension then next to answer for the stones or the price thereof, whereupon divers mainpernors mainperned to have him before the said barons at that day and from day to day and term to term until he should make fine with the king for the same; and at that day he appeared, and a day was given him on the morrow of Trinity then following, when he came not, neither did the said mainpernors have him there, in contempt of the king.
