November 1397

Nov. 30.
Westminster.
To the prior and convent of Holy Trinity Norwich. Order at their peril as they will avoid the king's wrath, upon sight etc. to send for brother John Kyrkeby a monk of that church, who at their expense is abiding at the court of Rome, charging him to return to England, and henceforward giving him no support or favour and ministering to him no expenses whereby he may there be maintained to the prejudice of the king, and nought especially which may tend to the prejudice of the said church being of the foundation of the king's forefathers and of his patronage; as the king has particular information that the said John has made and ceases not daily to make attempts in that court to the prejudice of the king and his royalty, wherefore the king is wroth.
