Westminster.
To Alan de Kirketon escheator in Bedfordshire. Order to give Elizabeth who was wife of William la Zouche of Haryngworth knight, of whom the king has commanded the abbot of Peterborough to take an oath etc., livery of a moiety of the manor of Eyton and the members of Henlowe, Edworth, Beeston and Wymyngton extended at 10l. a year, and a moiety of the manor of Toturnho at 110s., which with the manor of Calston co. Wiltesir at 14l., a rent of 20s. in Hempton by Dadyngton co. Oxford, five parts of a messuage and seven shops and of 27s. 8d. of rent into twelve parts divided in the parishes of St. Andrew upon Cornhulle and St. Dionysius Bagchirche in the city of London at 41s. 9d., five parts of the manor of Haryngworth co. Northampton into twelve parts divided at 19l. 3s. 4d., and a messuage and one virgate of land within the manor of Newebury co. Worcester extended at 10s. a year, with assent of William la Zouche knight son and heir of the said William, and of Stephen Makesey and John Pygot the younger her attorneys the king has assigned to her in dower.
To John Tauke escheator in Wiltesir. Like order to give the said Elizabeth livery of the manor of Calston, which the king has assigned to her in dower among other lands of her husband.
To Thomas Rothewelle escheator in Oxfordshire. Like order concerning a rent of 20s. in Hempton by Dadyngton.
To William More mayor of the city of London and escheator therein. Like order concerning five parts of a messuage and seven shops and of 27s. 8d. of rent in twelve parts divided in the parishes of St. Andrew upon Cornhulle and St. Dionysius Bagchirche.
To Henry Mulsho escheator in Norhamptonshire. Like order concerning five parts of the manor of Haryngworth into twelve parts divided.
To Henry Haggeley escheator in Worcestershire. Like order concerning a messuage and one virgate of land within the manor of Newebury.

To John Copleston escheator in Devon. Order to give John son of Richard Deneys livery of certain lands etc. in Lesnewyth and the advowson of Lesnewyth church; as it is found by inquisition, taken before John Kentwode knight and William de Horbury clerk by virtue of the king's commission, that on 1 October 10 Richard II John Blake deceased, who forfeited to the king, held the premises of the heritage of the said John son of Richard, then within age, and that John de la Pomeray knight, for that the said Richard was his tenant by knight service, granted the wardship of the said lands and heir to the said John Blake; and John son of Richard has proved his age before Stephen Denclyve.

To the bailiffs of the town of Gloucester. Order by mainprise of John Clifforde, Roger Hampton, John Skidmore of Herefordshire and William Rye of Gloucestershire to set free Richard Warde and John Henle, indicted for trespass before the justices of the peace in Gloucestershire; as John Clifforde and the others have mainperned in chancery for their good behaviour, and to have them before the said justices at their next session, and from session to session until delivered according to law and the custom of England.

To Henry Haggeley escheator in Worcestershire. Order to give Roger de Mortuo Mari earl of March seisin of a messuage, two tofts, two gardens, 20 acres of land, 1 acre of pasture and 10s. 11d. of rent in Bremmesgrove held by Walter Horsbroke of Bremmesgrove outlawed for felony; as the king has learned by inquisition, taken by the sheriff, that the premises, which are held of the earl, were in the king's hand from Monday after Allhallows 18 Richard II until the date of the inquisition, that John Blount and John Moraunt late escheator are bound to answer for the issues thereof, by name of the moiety of a messuage, pasture and croft and two dayworks of land, and that the said Henry took the issues from Allhallows last to the date of the inquisition, and ought to answer to the king for the same.

To John atte Crosse of Depham escheator in Norffolk. Order to take the fealty of Margaret late the wife of Constantine de Clifton, and to give her livery of two thirds of the manor of Cryshawe with appurtenances in Wymondham and the [whole] manor of Babyngle, with the issues thereof taken; as the king has learned by inquisition, taken by the escheator, that at his death the said Constantine held the same as jointly enfeoffed with her in chief by the service of butler at the king's coronation (ad coronam regiam) as parcel of the barony of Tateshale, by gift of Thomas Bardolf, John Howard knights and others made with licence of the king to them and the said Constantine's heirs.
July 12.
Woodstock.
To the prior of the friars of the order of preachers Oxford for the time being. Order, under pain of forfeiting life and limb etc., with all speed to remove all students of his said house present and future who will not attend divine services according to the appointment of the prior and council of the convent of their order at Oxford, and will not be under obedience to the prior and the customs of the said convent, and hereafter to receive none such in his said house; as all the brethren of the order are endowed and founded of the alms of the king's forefathers, of other great men and nobles and other the faithful of the realm daily to celebrate divine service for the souls of the king's forefathers, the health of the king and of the nobles and faithful aforesaid during their lives and their souls after their deaths, as are other the friars of other orders; and now it has come to the king's ears that some friars of that order have sued divers letters of the master general of the order, who is in foreign parts, to discharge them of their obedience to the prior, and for having divers chambers and easements, liberties and privileges for their abode in the said house, and other things there needful for them, causing the same to be brought within the realm and delivered to the prior, by reason whereof those friars refuse to live conformably with other friars of the house, taking no heed to perform divine services or bear other charges of the choir, or to be obedient to the prior, as the rule and custom of the said convent require, in contempt of the king and contrary to the founders' intent; and the king's will is to maintain such services within the realm in his time, and to endure no such novelties therein. Order to pay to Edward Perers the king's knight 40l. a year for life, and the arrears since 11 July last, on which date the king granted him for life 40l. a year of the fee farm which the earl is bound to render for the castle and lordship of Montgomery in Wales and the hundred of Cherbury.

To the collectors of customs and subsidies in the port of Kyngeston upon Hull for the time being. Order henceforward to pay 100 marks a year to the mayor and commonalty of the town for five years next to come; as with assent of the council the king has granted them the same of the customs and subsidies in that port in aid of the maintenance and repair of the port, willing that the first payment shall be at Christmas next.

To Henry de Percy earl of Northumberland. Order to set free all merchants of Scotland lately arrested contrary to the truce in a ship of Henry Pierson split upon the coast of Werkeworth in Lent last who are in the earl's custody, and all their goods and merchandise, that by the earl's default a breach of the truce be not imputed to the king; as by advice of the council it is ordered and agreed that they and their goods be set free. To the mayor and bailiffs of Norwich. (Like) order to set free John de Hamylton of Cadyov knight, William de Hamylton, Andrew de Hamylton, Thomas Hodowe, Gilbert Leche, Duncan de Logy, Andrew de Gledstanis, William de Menteth and Donald Chepman of Scotland by them arrested contrary to the truce and imprisoned in the king's prison at Norwich in their custody. To William Goderede escheator in Huntingdonshire. Order to remove the king's hand and meddle no further with the manor of Gillynge called 'Greyesmaner,' delivering to Elizabeth late the wife of Henry Greye of Wilton knight any issues thereof taken; as the king has learned by divers inquisitions, taken by the escheator, that at his death the said Henry held that manor as jointly enfeoffed with her by gift of Reynold de Grey knight lord of Wilton to them and the heirs of their bodies, and that it is held of others than the king.
July 5.

To John atte Crosse of Depham escheator in Norffolk. Order to take of Margaret who was wife of Constantine de Clyfton an oath etc., and in presence of the next friends of John son and heir of the said Constantine, a minor in ward of the king, or of their attorneys, to assign her dower.
To Clement Spice escheator in Essex. Order to assign dower to the said Margaret, of whom the king has commanded John atte Crosse to take an oath etc.
July 6.

To John atte Crosse of Depeham escheator in Norffolk. Order to give the said Margaret livery of the moiety of one knight's fee in Crouchestoke held by John White knight and extended at 50s., and the fourth part of 11½ knight's fees in Holkham, Melton, Wramplyngham, Blyforde, Hekyngham, Garboldesham, Reveshale, Quydenham, Saxlyngham, Sperham, Styvekeye and Little Melton formerly held by John Halsham and Philippa his wife and extended at 13l. 15s. a year, which with assent of Philip de Burton her attorney and of the next friends of her husband's heir the king has assigned to her in dower of the knights' fees of her husband.

To William de Nettylworth escheator in Notynghamshire and Derbyshire. Order to give William la Zouche, son and heir of William la Zouche of Haryngworth knight and Agnes his wife both deceased, livery of the castle and manor of Greseley with the appurtenances and parcels extending into Kymerley and Hemsylle and the advowson or patronage of Bevale priory co. Notyngham, and of the manor of Ilkeston co. Derby, and the issues thereof taken; as the king has learned by divers inquisitions, taken by the escheator, that William the father at his death held the same for life, the said castle, advowson etc. in chief as of the honour of Peverell by service of suit of the court of Peverell every three weeks, and the manor of Ilkeston of others than the king, by gift of John la Warre knight, William Thirnynge and others to William the father and Agnes for life, with remainder to William the son, who is of full age, and to the heirs of his body; and the king has taken the fealty of William the son.
To William Bolle escheator in Lincolnshire. Order to remove the king's hand and meddle no further with the manor of Lavyngton, delivering to the said William the son any issues thereof taken; as the king has learned etc. that William the father held the same of others than the king by gift of John la Warre knight, William Thirnynge and others to him for life, with remainder to William the son.

To John Tauke escheator in Wiltesir. Order to deliver to the next friend of the heir of John Blaunchard to whom the heritage may not descend, to be kept to his use, the rent of 40 marks a year hereinafter mentioned, and the money thereof taken; as the king has learned by inquisition, taken by Richard Fode late escheator, that John Blaunchard deceased, son of Thomas Blaunchard, long before his death granted by indenture to Bernard Brocas knight and Katherine his wife and to the heirs male of their bodies a toft with a common bakehouse therein and two small gardens adjacent, the moiety of one virgate of land in Bereforde St. Martin with the bailiwick of the forestership in Grovele forest called the 'Southbayly,' the manor of Bereford St. Martin, and a tenement in the borough of Wilton which was of Robert de Brudecombe, rendering to the grantor and his heirs 40 marks a year at Coterygge, and a parcel of pasture called 'Cokkesclos' and one acre of meadow called 'Cokkesmede' in Honybrugge and a messuage and certain lands, meadow, pasture and wood in Coderigge, that the said toft, gardens, bailiwick and land in Bereford are held in chief by the service of paying 9s. at the exchequer by the sheriff's hands for all services, the manor, land etc. remaining of others than the king, and that John Blanchard son of the said John is his next heir, and is of the age of seven years and upwards.
