Westminster.
To R. archbishop of York. Request and order upon his allegiance, as he loves the king and his honour and desires the safety of the church and realm of England, if in the life time of Robert late archbishop a convocation was held, to certify in chancery the amount of the subsidy granted and the terms of payment, and if not to summon a convocation of the clergy of the province of York in the cathedral church of St. Peter, York or elsewhere on 1 September next, and to move them to grant the king a subsidy, certifying in chancery under seal the amount thereof and the terms of payment; as to support the charges which he must needs incur for defence of the realm, the marches and the church, the king lately commanded the late archbishop to summon a convocation at a day past, and it is not yet certified in chancery whether so it was done or no.

Thomas de Oswaldekirke chaplain to Thomas de Houeden 'bower,' Stephen de Parys, both of York, and William de Emlay chaplain, their heirs and assigns. Quitclaim with warranty of the messuage in York in 'Overousegate,' lying in breadth between land of John de Braythwayt and William de Sallay and in length from the high street to land of the prioress and convent of Thikhevede, which Adam de Fournyvalle chaplain and the grantor had by feoffment of Constantine del Damen citizen and spicer of York. Witnesses: Thomas Graa mayor of York, William de Sallay and John de Hewyke sheriffs, John de Braythwayt, Robert de Talkan, John de Raghton, Robert de Gaynesforde, William de Neuby, Robert Haukehirst, John de Neuton. To the sheriffs of London. Writ of supersedeas, and order by mainprise of Henry Greve 'cardemaker,' Richard Leeke 'sherman,' William Grandoun 'chaundeler' and Thomas Russell 'bladsmyth,' all of London, to set free John Horewelle chaplain, if taken at suit of Walter Beeke for trespass.

To the sheriff of Essex. Order to give notice to the abbot of Westminster to be in chancery in the octaves of Michaelmas next, which day the king has given to Thomas Olyve, in order to shew cause wherefore there ought not to be a stay, and writ of supersedeas in favour of the said Thomas by mainprise of Thomas Talbot of London and Robert Trendele, William Saxy and John Hamond of Essex; as at the request of the abbot, signifying that Thomas Olyve of his jurisdiction was excommunicated for contumacy, not willing to be justified by censure of the church, the king ordered the sheriff to justify him by his body until he should content holy church for his contempt and wrongdoing; and now he has appealed to Roger archbishop of Canterbury, and is effectually prosecuting his appeal; and Thomas Talbot and the others have mainperned in chancery to have him there at the day named.

To the sheriff of Cantebrigge. Writ of supersedeas, and order by mainprise of Edmund Hikelynge of Middlesex, Guy Teukesbury of London, John Walsshe of Cambridgeshire and John Pakenham of London 'taillour' to set free Adam Leveryngton of Cantebrigge, if taken at suit of the king and William Cumbirton of Cantebrigge for leaving the service of William Cumbirton before the term agreed.
