in respect of further execution of judgment in a cause before the
mayor and aldermen in the 'Gyhalde' chamber without writ of the
king between William Crane 'habirdasscher' plaintiff and John Barkere
'habirdasscher' and Margaret his wife who was wife and is executrix
of Roger Crane late citizen of London defendants for render of 32l.,
and order by mainprise of Thomas Duke 'skynnere,' John Wilman
'brewere,' Thomas Rascall 'bokelermaker' and John Duke
'skynnere,' all of London, to set free John Barkere if taken; as error
has crept into the record and process of that cause and the rendering
of judgment, as the king has learned by complaint of the defendants,
and willing that the same be corrected the king has appointed William
Thirnynge, John Markham, William Brenchesle, William Skrene,
John Cokayn and John Rede, five, four, three and two of them, his
justices to examine the record and process in presence of the mayor
and aldermen at the church of St. Martin le Grand London, and to
correct any error therein or in the rendering of judgment; and order
to the mayor and aldermen to cause the record and process and all
things that concern the same to come before the said justices at a day
whereof notice shall be given them, and to the sheriffs to give the
plaintiff notice to be there in order to hear any error then found. |

causes, in respect of further holding of pleas concerning the manors
of Pytesley and Assheley co. Norhampton, Drayton Beauchamp co.
Bukingham, Wyvelesthorn co. Hertford, Weldoun and Weston by
Assele co. Norhampton, eleven messuages, 6½ virgates of land and 70s.
of rent in Weldoun and 76s. of rent in Weston excepted, and concerning divers other lands, until the full age of Richard son and heir of
Ralph Basset of Weldoun, and the holding of other such pleas whatsoever hereafter moved; as the king has learned that, as cousins and heirs
of the said Ralph, John de Aylesbury knight and John Knyvet are
suing for the premises against the said Richard, by name of Richard
Basset only, being a minor in ward of the king, and that the same are
in the king's hand by reason of the defendant's nonage. |

Richard Lyouns, brother and heir of William Lyouns sometime
son and heir of James Lyouns serjeant at arms, to Joan who was wife
of the said William, her heirs and assigns. Quitclaim with warranty
of certain tenements, lands, gardens etc. in the parish of St. Clement
Danes without New Temple bar London in the town of Westminster,
situate between tenements of the abbot and convent of Westminster
on the east and of John Lancastre on the west and between the high
streets called 'Holwey' on the south and 'Aldewyche' on the north,
and of a tenement in the parish of St. Mary de la Stronde with houses
thereupon built without 'Tempilbare' situate between the inn of
the bishop of Cestre on the east and the tenement of John Shelton on
the west and extending to the highway towards Westminster, whereof
she is seised and at this time in peaceable possession. Witnesses:
Robert Aschecombe the king's 'brouder,' John Nicole vintner of
London, John Kempe, Robert de Berewyke chaplains, Adam de
Houden, Thomas Rooe vintner of London and Robert Wadelishirst.

To the same. Order to give notice to Robert bishop of London to
be in chancery in the octaves of Michaelmas next in order to shew cause
wherefore there ought not to be a stay pending the appeal of Robert
Brooke of his diocese, writ of supersedeas in favour of the appellant,
and order by mainprise of John atte See, Henry atte Hale, John
Reygate and Geoffrey atte Vale to set him free if taken; as at request
of the bishop, signifying that by his authority as ordinary the appellant
was excommunicated for contumacy, not willing to be justified by
censure of the church, the king ordered the sheriffs to justify him by
his body until he should content holy church for his contempt and
wrongdoing; but he has appealed to the papal see, and is effectually
prosecuting his appeal; and John atte See and the others have mainperned in chancery that he shall prosecute the same with all diligence,
and shall be in chancery at the aforesaid day. |
