Grant, at the petition of himself, who is by both pai’iHts of noble birth and of James, king of Scots, whose well-beloved he is, (fn. 4) tha the provision of a canonry of Glasgow and another Dunkeld, with reservation of as many prehends and of dignity etc., even if elective and with cure, of one of those churches, [provided that such dignity were not major,] which the pope, motu proprio, made to him on 18 Kal. July anno [1447,below, f. 124d shall not be prejudiced by the priorit which the pope subsequently granted in the matter expectations to members of his household, enrolled in certain book of the apostolic chancery over all other person etc., but shall take effect as if he were himself one of the said members and enrolled in the said book, etc.Nobiliti generis,vite etc.

(f. 124d)		 To the same.Motu proprio collation and provision to him (who is by both parents of noble birth, is a son Alexander Home, knight, lord of Home in the diocese C St. Andrews, is in about his fifteenth year, and is well-beloved of James, king of Scots) of a canonry of Glasgow and another of Dunkeld, with reservation of a prebend of Glasgo and another of Dunkeld, and of a dignity etc. of one of those churches, even if elective and with cure, provided that suc dignity be not major; with special dispensation hereby on account of the said defect (in accordance with the dis pensation already granted to him by the pope;see the next following), to receive and retain such dignity etc. Nobilita etc. (Poggius.| xv. To George Home, clerk, of the diocese of St. Andrew Dispensation to him, who is in or about his fifteenth year, at his own petition and that of James, king of Scots, whose well-beloved he is, and of Alexander, knight, lord of Home in the above diocese, his father, to receive in commendam until he attains his twenty-first year, and thereafter to retain in titulum, any benefice with or without cure, even if a parish church or its perpetual vicarage or an elective dignity etc. with cure, even if such dignity be major or principal. The recent petition of Alexander Home, knight, lord of Home in the above diocese, contained that he has, for the welfare of the souls of himself and his progenitors and friends, caused to be built and has founded and endowed, with consent of James, bishop of St. Andrews, in the town of Duuglas in the said diocese a church of St. Mary the Virgin, and obtained its erection by authority of the ordinary into a collegiate church for a provost and other persons, the patronage and presentation of the said provost and other persons being reserved by the said bishop, for the first time and in future, to the said Alexander and his heirs and successors. At the petition of the said Alexander and of James, king of Scots, the pope hereby confirms the said building, foundation, endowment, erection and reservation, and appropriates in perpetuity to the said provost and persons the greater and lesser tithes, whose yearly value amounts to 5l. sterling, of the said town, the rector of whose parish church can do without them, and the lay patron of which has consented, the said appropriation to take effect on the resignation or death of the present rector.
