To the bishop of Tournai, and the provosts of St. Donatus's and St. Mary the Virgin's, Bruges, in the diocese of Tournai. Mandate, at the recent petition of Francischinus de Sanders (or Sandeis), merchant of Lucca and his associates (containing that Charles [son] of Peter de Giliis, also a merchant of Lucca, dwelling in the town of Bruges, refusing to pay them certain sums of money which he had for exchange through the city of London, on account of silk cloths sold to him by them (fn. 2), has fled to the house or church of the Augustinian friars at Bruges, etc.), to compel him, in the said house or church or other to which he may have fled, to produce his books and answer and make satisfaction for the said sums, notwithstanding the statutes and customs of such houses or churches etc. Justis supplicum votis. To the official of Glasgow. Mandate, at the recent petition of William Turnbull, perpetual vicar of Cadzow in the diocese of Glasgow (containing that on the voidance of a canonry of Glasgow and the prebend called de Glasgeu Secundo therein by the death of Robert Prendergest, he, in virtue of a faculty lately granted by the present pope to James king of Scots, and in virtue of the letters of a nomination of him made by the said king, by which he was expecting a benefice with or without cure, even if a canonry and prebend, dignity etc. in the collation etc. of any collators or collatrices of the realm (fn. 3), accepted within the lawful time the said canonry and prebend, which were comprehended under the said letters of nomination (fn. 4), and got provision made to him thereof, and in virtue of the said acceptance and provision obtained possession; and adding that the late William de Turribus, then perpetual vicar of Forest in the diocese of Moray, who had likewise accepted and got provision of the same canonry and prebend, void as above, in virtue of other and previously granted letters of the present pope, has died at the apostolic see without having had possession, and that he therefore doubts whether the aforesaid acceptance and provision made to him hold good) to collate and assign to the said William, who is a priest and of noble birth, the said canonry and prebend, value not exceeding 10l. sterling, they being, as the pope has learned, still void by the death of the said Robert or William de Turribus; notwithstanding that he holds the said vicarage of Cadzow, value not exceeding 15l. sterling. Collation and provision to him (who is a priest, and all of whose benefices and their values and his dispensations the pope hereby holds to be expressed by these presents) of a canonry of Lismore and the prebend of Clasmore and a canonry of Limerick and the prebend of Dysert, void at the apostolic see, and therefore reserved, by the respective deaths there of Cornelius Makugin and John Duch alias fupra (? rectius supra) rippa(m), value not exceeding 3 and 8 marks sterling respectively. To the abbot de Portu puro, Cloniert, and the abbot of St. Mary's, Abbeygormacan (de Nova via), and the prior of St. Mary's, Cluayntuayscert Omane, in the diocese of Clonfert (fn. 5). Mandate (the pope having been informed by M[a]urice Macuollachayn, perpetual vicar of Kyllmoconna in the diocese of Clonfert, that Malachy Omadaeyn, a canon of Clonfert, living like a mere layman in a lay habit (fn. 6), publicly keeps a concubine and dilapidates and alienates and uselessly consumes the possessions of his canonry of Clonfert and prebend of Fyndiwyr, and is diffamed of these and divers other crimes [not here expressed] in those parts; and the pope having learned that the perpetual vicarage of Myliugsynna in the said diocese has been so long void, because Donald Ocananayn, having obtained it by canonical collation, held possession for more than a year without having himself ordained priest and without dispensation, that its collation has by the Lateran statutes lapsed to the apostolic see, although Thady Olongayn, priest, of the said diocese, has unduly detained possession for more than a year, but less than two years, under pretext of a collation and provision made to him [by authority of the ordinary] after the said lapse) if and after M[a]urice (who was lately dispensed, notwithstanding his illegitimacy as the son of a priest religious of the order of St. Augustine and an unmarried woman, to be promoted to all, even holy orders and hold a benefice even with cure; and who, having been tonsured and promoted to all minor orders and that of acolyte, obtained the said vicarage of Kyllmoconna, collated to him by authority of the ordinary) accuses Malachy before the above three, to summon Malachy and Thady, and if they find the facts to be as stated, to deprive and remove Malachy, and in that event to collate and assign the said canonry and prebend and vicarage, the value of each not exceeding 3 marks sterling, to M[a]urice; whether the canonry and prebend become void by such deprivation, and the vicarage be void as above or by the resignation of Maurus Yheley, priest, of the said diocese, or whether they be void in any other ways, and notwithstanding that he holds the said vicarage of Kyllmoconna, value not exceeding 1 mark sterling. He is hereby dispensed to receive and retain the said canonry and prebend and vicarage of Myliugsynna, notwithstanding his said defect, but upon obtaining the latter he is to resign that of Kyllmocomna (sic).
