To the official of Kilmore. Mandate to erect the [perpetual] vicarage of rural lands called the plebs of Cuylofloynd (fn. 2) in the diocese of Kilmore, void by the death of Maurice Ofloyn and value not exceeding 3 marks sterling, into a prebend of the church of Kilmore for the life of John Ymulmochory, a canon of Kilmore, in which church, although there is a certain number of canons, there is not the same number of prebends (fn. 3) and to collate and assign such prebend, when erected, to the said John. The pope hereby dispenses him (who was lately dispensed by papal authority, on account of illegitimacy as the son of a priest and an unmarried woman, to be promoted to all even holy orders and hold a benefice even with cure, before which dispensation he had had himself made a clerk; and to whom the present pope has by other letters made provision of a canonry with reservation of a prebend of the said church, and of a benefice with or without cure in the gift etc. of the bishop and the archdeacon, dean and chapter etc. of Ardagh; and whom the pope by the same letters dispensed to receive and retain such canonry and prebend and benefice) to receive and retain the said prebend, notwithstanding the said defect etc. Apostolice sedis providentia. To William Macriuayr, (fn. 4) Donald Machaassyd and Matthew Macgillacossg[l]y, canons of Armagh. Mandate as below. Nicholas V, at the instance of abbot Patrick and the convent of the Augustinian monastery of St. Mary Clogher, ordered a certain judge (not here named) to confirm and approve a donation and grant of the perpetual vicarage of the parish church of Areguldakerog in the diocese of Armagh made to the monastery by the said abbot, who was then holding it in commendam by papal authority, and to receive and admit the said abbot's resignation of the commenda, and, after so receiving and admitting, to appropriate the said vicarage in perpetuity to the monastery, whether it were void by such resignation or were still void in the way in which it had been void before the said commenda was made, or were void in any other way, (fn. 5) as is more fully contained in the said mandate, which, it is alleged, has been wholly executed. The pope (having been informed by Denis Odangussa, clerk, of Clogher, that the abbot and convent in the matter of the said donation, grant and resignation made a simoniacal bargain between themselves, by which the abbot was to enjoy all the fruits etc. of the vicarage for life, as he has done hitherto, whereby he incurred the sentences of excommunication etc. promulgated against simoniacs) hereby orders the above three, if and after Denis (who was lately made a clerk, notwithstanding his illegitimacy as the son of the said abbot, who held the said vicarage and ministered therein without any intermediary, (fn. 6) and an unmarried woman) accuses the abbot and convent before them, to summon the abbot and convent and others concerned, and if they find the foregoing to be true, to declare the said confirmation, approbation and appropriation to be of no force, and to annul them, remove the abbot and convent, and in the event of their doing so to collate and assign the vicarage, value not exceeding 5 marks sterling, to Denis, whom the pope hereby dispenses on account of the said defect to be promoted to all even holy orders and receive and retain the vicarage, and moreover not to be bound for seven years, whilst studying letters, to be promoted to the said orders, provided that within a year after getting peaceable possession of the vicarage he be ordained subdeacon. To the dean of Clonmacnoise (Clunen.), and Donatus Ogowyre and Charles (Kearwallo) Odayle, canons of the same. Mandate (the pope having been informed by Matthew Bremigheam, clerk, of the diocese of Meath, that Thomas Offlayn, perpetual vicar of the parish church of St. John Baptist, Carbri, in the diocese of Kildare (Daren.), has, even after having been monished by authority of the ordinary, publicly kept and clung to a certain concubine, by whom he has begotten offspring, and has committed simony and perjury, and dilapidated etc. the goods of the vicarage) if and after Matthew (who has been tonsured and is illegitimate, being the son of a priest, an Augustinian canon, and an unmarried woman, and who from fear of Thomas's power cannot safely meet him in the city or diocese of Kildare) accuses Thomas before them, to summon Thomas and others concerned, and if they find the foregoing to be true, or one of them enough for the purpose, to deprive Thomas, and in that event to collate and assign the vicarage, value not exceeding 24 marks sterling, to Matthew, whom the pope hereby dispenses to receive and retain it, notwithstanding the said defect etc. Vite etc. (P. and A. de Montia. | P. xxii.Pridie Non. To the bishop of Sodor, the abbot of St. Columba de Y, and the prior of St. Columba de Orwnsa (or Orwonsa), in the diocese of Sodor. Mandate to collate and assign to A[e]neas Ferchardi, clerk, of the diocese of Sodor, the parish church of St. Connanus de Wig in Tronternes, in the said diocese, of the patronage of laymen and value not exceeding 4l. sterling, so long void, because Michael Andree, who is to be summoned and removed, having obtained it by canonical collation, held it for more than a year without having himself ordained priest and without dispensation, that its collation has lapsed to the apostolic see.
