To John Marescalli alias de Scotia, layman. dwelling in the comté de Poitou. (fn. 2) Indult, at his own petition and that of Raymund Perandi, archdeacon of Aunis (Alnisien.) in the church of Saintes (Xanctonen.), orator to the pope of Louis, king of France, to contract marriage with any woman in the said comté, even without the letters testimonial from the diocesan or from the curate of the city or place of his birth, which by the synodal constitutions etc. of the said comté he is required to have, but which he cannot have because he is ignorant of his native country, having left it in his childhood and taken up his abode in the city of Poitiers and neighbouring parts, and having dwelt there ever since (fn. 3); with mandate executory hereby to the bishops of Poitiers, St. Malo (Malleacen.) and Limoges (Lemovicen.). Indult at his own petition … France (as in the preceding), for him, who is in minor orders only, to be promoted by any catholic bishop of his choice, in communion with the apostolic see, to all other holy orders, even priest's orders, in succession, on any Sundays or other feast-days, even extra tempora, and to minister therein; with licence for such bishop so to ordain him.
