To the prior of St. Michael's Mount (de Rupe) in the diocese of Ardfert, the dean of Ardfert, and Dermit (Dermisio) Osullyvan, a canon of the same. Mandate to collate and assign to Rory Oflynnma, clerk, of the diocese of Ardfert, the united perpetual vicarages, with cure, and value not exceeding 12 marks sterling, of the parish churches de Cunllyn Allan et Nochroill All[a? ]n, in the said diocese, so long void that their collation has lapsed to the apostolic see, although John Om[u]rchu, clerk, of the said diocese, who is to be summoned and removed, has, under pretext of a collation made by the ordinary, detained possession for about a year. To the prior of SS. Peter and Paul's de Innoscencia by Athluayn, in the diocese of Elphin, John Macgillaruayd, a canon of Elphin, and the official of the same. Mandate, as below. The pope has been informed by Cornelius Odoigelcan, priest, of the diocese of Elphin, that Magonius Magorreachdaig, priest, of the said diocese, made a simoniacal bargain with Cornelius, bishop of Elphin, to the effect that if the said bishop would collate and assign to him the perpetual vicarage of Teachbayd in the said diocese, then void by the death of Rory Ymothlain extra R. c., he would give him certain horses, thereby incurring the sentences of excommunication etc. for simony, after which the said bishop made him collation and provision of the said vicarage, under pretext of which he obtained possession, and has detained it for about twelve years, without any other canonical title. The pope therefore orders the above three, if Cornelius will accuse Magonius before them, to summon the latter, and if they find the foregoing to be true, to decree the said collation and provision null and void, and remove Magonius, and in that event to collate and assign the said vicarage, value not exceeding 5 marks sterling, to Cornelius. To Philip Odoylean, perpetual vicar of Killinniduna (fn. 2) in the diocese of Clonfert. Collation and provision to him (who was lately dispensed by papal authority on account of illegitimacy, as the son of a priest and a married woman, to be promoted to all, even holy orders and hold a benefice even with cure, after which he was so promoted and obtained the perpetual vicarage of Kiltormor in the said diocese, value not exceeding 3 marks sterling, which he subsequently resigned), of the above vicarage of Killiniduna, value not exceeding 7 marks sterling, void at the apostolic see, and therefore reserved to the pope, by the death there of Theobald de Burgo; whether it be so void, or be still void by the death of Nicholas Maydun, or be void in any other way. He is specially dispensed to receive and retain it, notwithstanding the said defect, etc. Vite etc. |

To the dean of Killaloe (Laonien.), and David Ocormichan and Donatus Ograda, canons of the same. Mandate, as below. The pope has been informed by Odo alias James (Jacobus) Maccomara, clerk, of the diocese of Killaloe, that Dermit Obren, a canon of Killaloe, made a simoniacal bargain with Cornelius Obren, layman, patron of the rectory of the united parish churches de Cuintdbe [sic] et Ocassim, in the said diocese, to the effect that if the latter would present him to the said rectory (then void by the death of Thady Macnamara) he would pay him a certain sum, thereby incurring simony and the sentences of excommunication etc. therefor, after which the said patron presented him to Matthew, bishop of Killaloe, who, perhaps in ignorance of the said bargain, united the said rectory to the canonry and prebend of Killaloe which Dermit was then holding, under pretext of which he obtained possession of the said rectory, and has held it for between one and two years, paying to the said patron the said sum. The pope therefore orders the above three, if Odo will accuse Dermit before them, to summon the latter, and if they find the foregoing to be true, to decree the said union null and void, and remove Dermit, and in that event to collate and assign the said rectory, with cure, and value not exceeding 50 marks sterling, to Odo. To the dean of Kildare (Daren.), and Niellanus Maccuarta and Roger Macconimigy, canons of the same. Mandate to collate and assign to Patrick Ohaed, clerk, of the diocese of Clogher (who notwithstanding his illegitimacy, as the son of a priest and an unmarried woman, has been made a clerk) the rectory de Achaluma in the diocese of Armagh, with cure, and value not exceeding 16 marks sterling, void by the death extra R. c. of Cognoscius Ohaed, although Donald Machahastiy (?), a canon of Armagh, accepted it under pretext of certain [papal? ] letters expectative, which were then exhausted, (fn. 4) and got provision made to him thereof, and has detained possession for about three months without any canonical title; summoning and removing the said Donald. Patrick is hereby specially dispensed to be promoted to all, even holy orders and receive and retain the said rectory, and also any other compatible benefices of any number and kind, with or without cure, etc., and to resign them, simply or for exchange.
