To John, bishop of Beirut (Beriten.), and William, bishop of Sidon (Sidonien.), and Edmund, bishop of Kildare (Daren.), [all] residing (commorantibus) in the city of London. Mandate, as below. The recent petition of Alexander Childesworth, layman of the town of Sandwich (ville Sandwici) in the diocese of Canterbury, contained that formerly Joan Childesworth, of the parish of Hornchiech [sic], mulier, of the diocese of London, falsely alleging that he was her husband, and that he had put her away and did not treat her with marital affection, brought him before William Pykenham [sic], auditor-general of Thomas, cardinal priest of St. Ciriac's in Thermis (who holds the church of Canterbury by grant and dispensation of the apostolic see, and by reason of the same church is legatus natus of the said see in those parts), upon whose unjust refusal to admit certain articles exhibited on behalf of the said Alexander, the latter appealed to the said see, and has petitioned the pope to commit the causes of the said appeal, etc., and of the principal matter to some upright men in those parts. The pope, therefore, hereby orders the above three to summon the said Joan and others concerned, hear both sides, taking cognisance of the principal matter also, and declare what is canonical, without appeal, causing their decison to be observed by ecclesiastical censure. 4 Kal. April. (29 March.) St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 184v.)	To the bishop of Brechin, the precentor of Glasgow, and John Zezland (?), a canon of Moray. Mandate, as below. The recent petition of William, bishop of Aberdeen, contained that although the fruits, etc., of the episcopal mensa of Ross lawfully belonged to him after his translation thence to Aberdeen, before obtaining possession of the rule and administration and goods of the latter church, nevertheless Thomas, bishop of Ross, and Thomas, abbot of the monastery of Fearn, O. Praem., in the diocese of Ross, Martin Vas and Laurence Scot, respectively dean and precentor of Ross, and the collectors and farmers (arrendatarii) of said fruits, etc., and certain other clerks and laymen of the city and diocese of Ross, have refused and still refuse to consign to him the said fruits, etc. At the said petition, therefore, for the commission to some upright men in those parts of the causes which the said bishop William intends to bring against the said bishop Thomas and abbot Thomas, and the said dean, precentor, collectors and farmers, and any other persons, about the said fruits, etc., the pope hereby orders the above three to summon the said bishop Thomas and abbot Thomas and the said dean and precentor and collectors, and others concerned, hear both sides, and decide what is just, without appeal, causing their decision to be observed, by the said bishop Thomas by the pope's authority, and by the others by ecclesiastical censure. 1484/5. Non. Feb. (5 Feb.) St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 218v.)	To Andrew Simon (Andree Simoni), priest, of the diocese of Glasgow. Reservation, etc., as below. His recent petition contained that he has desisted from the suits between him and Thomas Horne (or Horue), prior of the priory de la Mere Dieu, O.S.A. in the diocese of Bourges (Bituricen.), about the said priory, and from the prosecution of his right in or to the same, and has left the said Thomas in peace therein. The pope, therefore, hereby reserves and assigns to him a yearly pension for life of 15l. of petits tournois of the money current in the realm of France, which do not exceed 8½ gold ducats of the Camera, (fn. 2) upon the fruits, etc., of the said priory, they early value of which does not exceed 24 gold ducats, to be paid by the said Thomas (who has consented by his proctor, Master Peter Fradeti, a papal scriptor and a member of the pope's household), and by his successors, half on the feast of St. John Baptist, and half on the feast of Christmas; with the usual sanctions for non-payment or delay. 1485. 3 Non. Sept. (3 Sept.) St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 240v.)	To Thomas Dicheyate alias Bayly, a canon of the monastery of St. Mary, Myssenden, O.S.A., in the diocese of Lincoln. Dispensation to receive and retain any benefice with [or without] cure wont to be held by secular clerks, even if a parish church or its perpetual vicarage, etc., and to resign it, simply or for exchange, when he pleases.
