7 Kal. Oct. Chateauneuf, Avignon. (f. 336.)	To Master William de Balaeto, archdeacon of Forli, papal chaplain and nuncio to England, Wales, Scotland, and Ireland. Mandate to collect the tenth, Peter's pence, and other cess due to the Roman church, and also the balance of the procurations due to former legates and nuncios, and moneys due to the Holy Land subsidy, and all sums placed in deposit by former collectors, such as the late Geoffrey, bishop of Parma, and others; with the necessary powers and faculties.

1317. 13 Kal. June. Avignon. (f. 361.)	To the archbishops, bishops, and all prelates, secular and regular, of England, Wales, Scotland, and Ireland. Request and exhortation to assist Master Rigaud de Asserio, canon of Orleans, in his mission, and to grant him 7s. a day. Power is given to the papal envoy to enforce his orders by ecclesiastical censure.
Kal. May. Avignon. (f. 361d.)	To the same. Monition and mandate to assist Master Rigaud in collecting Peter's pence, and to pay over to him what has already been collected, no appeal being allowed; if necessary, the aid of the secular arm is to be called in.
Ibid.	To the same Master Rigaud. Mandate to warn and induce the said archbishops, bishops, and prelates to carry out the orders contained in the letters he brings from the pope touching the collection of Peter's pence; the envoy having full powers to enforce them.
13 Kal. June. Avignon. (f. 362.)	To the same. Indult that, during his mission, he shall be exempt from all ordinary jurisdiction, and shall not be subject to commands of papal delegates.
Kal. May. Avignon. (f. 362.)	To the same. Mandate to carry on the collection and exaction of Peter's pence and other dues as has been done by other legates and nuncios, and by Geoffrey, bishop of Parma, now deceased. Sums already collected are to be paid over to him under pain of ecclesiastical censure, and full powers are given him to enforce whatever orders may be necessary to the fulfilment of his mission.
14 Kal. June. Avignon. (f. 363d.)	To the same. Indult that, during his mission, he shall enjoy the fruits of his benefices, being non-resident.

6 Non. July. Avignon. (f. 365.)	To Bertrand, cardinal of St. Marcellus. Provision of the canonry of Lincoln and prebend of Croperdy, void by the death of James, cardinal of SS. John and Paul, to whom they were given by the pope on the promotion of John, bishop of Winchester, their former holder.
	Concurrent mandate to the prior of Hoo, in the diocese of Chichester, and two others named.
1316. 6 Id. Dec. Avignon. (f. 374.)	To Rigaud de Asserio, D.C.L. auditor of the papal palace. Mandate to collect, exact, and receive the first year's fruits, rents, and proceeds of such benefices and offices, secular and regular, in England, Scotland, Ireland, and Wales, as on their voidance during three years are in the gift of the pope, any statutes or customs to the contrary notwithstanding. Details are left to the said papal collector, and his colleagues, who are ordered to pay over all sums to the Roman church.
Ibid. (f. 375.)	To archbishops, bishops, and all prelates and rectors, regular and secular, in the kingdoms of England and Scotland, and in the provinces of Ireland and Wales. Request and exhortation to assign to the same Master Rigaud, for three years, the first year's fruits, as ordered in the above mandate.
1317. Kal. May. Avignon. (f. 386.)	Promulgation of the truce between Edward, kind of England, and Robert de Brus, self-styled king of Scotland; all those who infringe the said truce being excommunicated.
	Concurrent mandate to Gaucelin, cardinal of SS. Marcellinus and Peter, and Luke, cardinal of St. Mary's in Via Lata, sent by the pope to negotiate the said truce, to whom orders are given to issue sentence of excommunication against those who infringe the same. Ibid.	To the same cardinals. Commission and mandate to urge king Edward to pay the yearly cess of 1000 marks, that is 700 for England and 300 for Ireland, which king John bound himself and his successors to pay.

16 Kal. April. Avignon. (f. 386d.)	To all prelates, secular and regular. Order to assist the said cardinals in their mission, giving them safe conduct, and paying the 30 pounds of Tours a day for expenses.

16 Kal. April. Avignon. (f. 389d.)	To the king, urging him to restrain the officials, ministers, and nobles of his realm, who have injured and oppressed divers ecclesiastics of his realm, and to listen to the advice of the cardinals sent to open to him the pope's mind on this matter.

Mandate to induce the king to cause his officials, ministers, and nobles to cease from occupying churches and benefices reserved to the pope, and imprisoning clerks, secular and regular, and fining them, and to respect the liberties of the church. The papal collectors have been unable to obtain payment of the residue of Peter's pence and legacies, Holy Land subsidies, and other dues of the Roman church, being hindered therein by the officers of the king, who feigns to be ignorant of the matter.
