Confirmation, with exemplification, of the grant made and confirmed to them by pope Celestine and Lucius III. and Innocent III. of the church of Godeshulle, in the diocese of Winchester, Henry, bishop of the same, having at the king's request appropriated it to them; and Walter, archbishop of Canterbury, having sanctioned the same. The letters of pope Celestine are dated at the Lateran, 18 Kal. Jan. an. 5, and contain the grant of the churches of Godeshulle, Freschwatere, and Arreton; as do those of Lucius, dated at Segni, 12 Kal. Aug. and of Innocent, at the Lateran, 14 Kal. Feb. an. 1. The letters of bishop Henry are dated at Esher, 21 June 1315; and those of the prior and convent of Winchester, 5 April 1316. The archbishop of Canterbury's letters are dated Mortlake, 13 Oct. 1323.
