8 Kal. June. Avignon. (f. 19.)	To Robert, bishop elect of Salisbury. Faculty to be consecrated by any bishop with two or three assistants in communion with the apostolic see.
Id. June. Avignon. (f. 60d.)	To the archbishop of York, Itherius de Concoreto, canon of Salisbury, and Alan de Houdona, canon of London. Mandate to cite before the pope Manserius de Marmion, a member of the household of the bishop of Durham, who for three years has held the church of Hohton, papal provision of which had been made to Anibaldus, cardinal of St. Laurence's in Lucina. Manserius would not allow the papal letters of provision to be published; he has by falsifications procured the gift of that church from the king, and is said to have broken out into bad language against the pope and cardinals.
10 Kal. June. Avignon. (f. 82d.)	To Philip Turvill, William de. Leycestria, and Nicholas Taynturell, canons of Lichfield. Mandate to absolve the bishop prior, and chapter, and others their subjects, from the sentences of excommunication and suspension issued against them by the archbishop, official, and commissaries of York; and to send a full report to the pope, under seal, touching the question of jurisdiction and cognisance of causes between Lewis, bishop of Durham, and his metropolitan. The cases specified are those of the Benedictine nuns of St. Stephen's, the churches of Osmunderleykek, Cousebi, Thornton le Street, Northotrington, Bretteby, and their chapels, the hospitals of Alverton and Leasyngby, in the diocese of York, and their clergy and people; all which, of ancient and approved custom, are known to belong to the bishop of Durham, But William, archbishop of York, William de Stanes, the official of his court, and Master Denys Avenell, formerly official, have presumed to hinder the bishop of Durham in the exercise of his jurisdiction over the said places and persons; and have obtained papal letters to the chancellor of Lincoln, Gilbert Lovell, chancellor of Salisbury, and the prior of the Friars Preachers in Lincoln, John de Haryngton, canon of Lincoln, being commissioned by Gilbert to take his place, who heard the cause. The bishop's appeal to the pope was disregarded by the archbishop who molested the bishop touching his jurisdiction over Alverthon, Siggeston, Rungeton, Houeden, and Houedenschire. Further appeals were made by the bishop, and papal letters obtained to the abbot of Holmcoltrame, near Bromfeld, the prior of the Friars Preachers, and the archdeacon of Carlisle. Meanwhile the archbishop and his official and commissaries issued sentences against the bishop, clergy, people, and lands, who, being unable to get a hearing, as the said archdeacon refused to have anything more to do with the matter, lays his case before the pope, who makes order that the parties shall appear before him by proctors.
2 Non. July. Avignon. (f. 104.)	To Thomas called ‘de Dombelton,’ M.A. of the diocese of Worcester. Reservation of a benefice in the gift of the abbot and convent of Abingdon value 20 marks without cure of souls, or 25 with it.

3 Kal. Sept. Avignon. (f. 107d.)	To Gilbert Fleming. Provision of the deanery of Aberdeen. void by the death of Andrew Fleming; notwithstanding that he has the precentorship of the same, which he is to resign.
	Concurrent mandate to the bishop of Brechin, and two others named.
2 Non. Mar. Avignon. (f. 112.)	To John de Claydon. Provision of a canonry of St. Paul's, London, with reservation of a prebend; notwithstanding that he is rector of Malmecestre, in the diocese of Lichfield.
	Concurrent mandate to the abbots of Dore and Westminster, and the archdeacon of Hereford.
3 Non. Mar. Avignon. (f. 113.)	To the abbot and convent of Dore. Confirmation of the appropriation made to them by Adam, bishop of Hereford, of the church of Avebury, of their patronage, value 18 marks, a perpetual vicar being appointed, who is to pay a yearly pension of ½ mark for the choir boys of the cathedral.
8 Id. June. Avignon. (f. 130d.)	To Master Itherius de Concoreto, canon of Salisbury, papal nuncio. Mandate to ascertain the facts touching the sequestration by John, bishop of Exeter, of the fruits of St. Mary de Ottery, appropriated to the dean and chapter of Exeter. In spite of their appeals to the pope, the bishop appointed Adam de Carleton, archdeacon of Cornwall, Masters Richard de Woydeslade, archdeacon of Barnstaple, and Thomas de Nassyngton his official, and Henry de Bloiou, rector of Cornuwode, to declare that the dean and chapter had no right in the said church. On their further appeal, the bishop instituted John de Charnebroke, who held the said church, beating and dragging out by his heels Theobald de Haya, canon of Rouen, who defended the church for the dean and chapter, by whom appeal was again made to the pope. The bishop and the said John exhibited such appeals, obtaining royal writs under pain of capital punishment; whereupon the dean and chapter lay their case before the pope, who orders a report to be made, and the citation of those who took part in the ill-treatment of Theobald.
1329. 3 Id. Dec. Avignon. (f. 140d.)	To John de Caldeu, B.C.L. Provision, of a canonry of; Howden, with reservation of a prebend; notwithstanding that he is rector of Ormesheved, in the diocese of Carlisle, whose church has been nearly destroyed by the Scots.
	Concurrent mandate to Manuel de Flisco, papal notary, archdeacon of Nottingham, and the archdeacons of Wells and Carlisle.
1330. Kal. July. Avignon. (f. 144.)	To Edmund, son of William Trousel, knight. Provision of a canonry of York, with reservation of a prebend; notwithstanding that he has a canonry of London and prebend of Hoxton, and has held the archdeaconry of Middlesex, void by the death of Robert de Baldok, which, on learning that it was reserved to the pope, he is prepared to resign, without prejudice to his expectation of a dignity in the church of London.
	Concurrent mandate to Anthony Bek, chancellor of Lincoln, John de Kinardeseye, canon of Lichfield, and another named.
7 Kal. Sept. Avignon. (f. 166d.)	To Master Manuel de Flisco, archdeacon of Nottingham Indult to enjoy the fruits of his archdeaconry, being resident in the Roman court.
	Concurrent mandate to three persons beneficed out of England.
Kal. April. Avignon. (f. 177.)	To Richard de Cornubia. Provision of a canonry of Lincoln with reservation of a prebend; on condition of resigning the prebend of Frydaythorp, in York, which he obtained on its voidance by the consecration of William, bishop of Norwich, and held for four years in ignorance that it was reserved to the pope; and notwithstanding that he is rector of Walsokne and vicar of Frothingham, in the dioceses of Norwich and Lincoln, and has a canonry of York with expectation of a prebend.
	Concurrent mandate to the abbots of Croyland and Thorney, and another named.

Reservation, at the request of queen Philippa, whose clerk he is, of a benefice, value 25 marks with cure of souls, or 15 without it, in the gift of the bishop of Hereford; notwithstanding that he has prebends in the free royal chapel of St. Martin's le Grand, London, and St. Chad's Shrewsbury, and is rector of St. Mary's, Borewell, in the diocese of Norwich.
	Concurrent mandate to William Colby, canon of Lincoln, Thomas de Garton, canon of Wells, and another named.
Ibid.	To John de Melbourn. The like reservation of a canonry and prebend of Lichfield; notwithstanding that he has a canonry of the same with expectation of a prebend, and has a canonry and prebend of the royal chapel of Wolverhampton, and is rector of Great Boudon, which last he is to resign.

Mandate to assign to Master Nigel de Waver, licentiate in theology, the canonry of Lichfield and prebend of Wellington, void by the consecration of William, bishop of Norwich; notwithstanding that he is rector of Croydon, and has a canonry and prebend of St. Davids, value together 43l.

To Richard de Cornubia, Provision of a canonry of Lichfield, with reservation of a prebend, he being ready to resign the prebend of Frydaythorp, in York, which he obtained on its voidance by the consecration of William, bishop of Norwich, in ignorance that it was reserved to the pope.
