4 Id. Oct. Avignon. (f. 39d.)	To Thomas de Boynton, rector of St. Mary's, Gateshead. Provision, on petition of queen Isabella, of the canonry and prebend of Beverley, provision of which was made at the request of Aymer de Valentia, earl of Pembroke, to John de Crasseby. The prebend of St. Stephen, having become void by the death of Henry de Carleton, was obtained by the said John, but he was despoiled of it by Robert de Risshton, who falsely asserted that by certain papal letters it belonged to him, and while the cause between John and Robert was being heard, and appeal made to the pope, John died, whereupon the canonry and prebend are given to Thomas.

To Master Laurence de la Barre, M.A. Provision of the canonry of Hereford, and prebend of Wellinton, void by the death of John Walewayn, notwithstanding that he has a canonry and prebend of Wells, and the rectory of Compton Martin, in the same diocese, value together 20 marks.

Ibid. (f. 66d.)	To the bishop of Exeter, and William de Nassington and Henry Bloyou, canons of the same. Mandate to assign to Richard de Langacre, of the diocese of Exeter, the church of St. Michael, Ilstyngton, value 2 marks, to which was added a pension of 100s. from the prior and convent of Plympton. He obtained the said church by virtue of papal letters making provision to him of a poor clerk's benefice in the gift of the said prior and convent, and doubts whether the addition to the value does not vitiate the provision, which is now cancelled.

Fergus is to be inducted and defended in possession of the said church.

The monk had been appointed guardian of a manor and town belonging to the monastery; one day, two years before, being hailed “Master,” on entering the town, a bailiff said that a thief, whom he was following, had escaped him, and on the thief's clothes being described the monk identified him.
1332. 7 Kal. Sept. Avignon. (f. 488d.)	To the bishop of Lincoln. Mandate to unite to the prior and canons of Dunstable, whose house is on the great high road, the church of Northmerston near Whitchurch, of their patronage, whose value is now said to exceed 20 marks, out of which 4 are paid to the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem in England. A perpetual vicar's portion is reserved.

Kal. July. Avignon. (f. 516.)	To the prior of Canterbury and Master William de Renham, canon of London, and the official of Canterbury. Mandate to liberate Peter de Dene, priest of the diocese of Chichester, who, to escape his enemies, took the habit at St. Augustine's, having made over his goods to that house and added largely to the buildings there. It is stated that he took the habit with no intention of remaining under the rule, and on wishing to return to the world he has been deprived of his property, forcibly detained, denied appeal to the pope, and not allowed to hear mass and receive the eucharist. All this the abbot denies. These counter statements are to be examined.
Kal. Sept. Avignon. (f. 520d.)	To the bishop of Worcester the abbot of St. Augustine's Canterbury, and Itherius de Concoreto, canon of Salisbury, papal nuncio. Mandate to warn Simon, archbishop of Canterbury, not to molest John, bishop of Exeter, whom the pope has exempted from the jurisdiction of his metropolitan.
