Mandate touching Robert Erskine, knight, and Cristina de Keth, who, on the occasion of the wounding and imprisonment of Walter de Menteith and his brother, kinsmen of Cristina, in order to put an end to the discords thence arising, did, with the consent of king David, whose kinswoman Cristina is, contract marriage, having sent a clerk to the Roman court for a dispensation, which was expected but not obtained, the clerk having reported that he had satisfactorily finished his business; Beatrice de Hondesay (Lindesay), Robert's first wife, being related to Cristina in the fourth degree of kindred. Mandate to inform himself touching the patronage of the priory of Ipplepen, in the diocese of Exeter, of which king Edward has despoiled the Augustinian abbot and convent of St. Peter's, Fougères, in the diocese of Rennes, and has presented many secular clerks to the said church. The abbot and convent pray for licence to transfer their lands and rights in the said church to the warden and college of St. Mary Ottery. The bishop is to report, under seal, to the pope, who will take counsel as to what is to be done.
