(f. 38.)		 To Master John Fraunceys, bachelor of canon law, papal writer and member of the pope's household. Collation and provision, motu proprio, to him—who is an abbreviator of apostolic letters and to whom the pope on 4 Id. Nov. anno 1 [1389] made provision of a canonry of York with expectation of a prebend—of the canonry and prebend of Masham in York, value not exceeding 350 (sic) marks—provision of which, on their becoming void at the apostolic see, and reserved by the death there of John Moubray, chaplain of the apostolic see, auditor of littere contradicte, and auditor of causes of the apostolic palace, Urban VI made to the late Philip bishop of Ostia; which have become similarly void at the said see and reserved, by the death there of the said Philip without obtaining possession, although John Boor, priest, of the diocese of Salisbury has had himself intruded by authority of the ordinary—whether void by the death of Philip or of John Moubray or (ac) of the late Robert Stratford, sometime auditor of causes of the said palace, or otherwise. Upon obtaining the said canonry and prebend, his said letters of expectation shall be null and void. Grata tue familiaritatis.

(f. 55.)		 To Thomas Stanley. Collation and provision, motu proprio, of the canonry and prebend of Massam in York, value not exceeding 300 (sic) marks, which became void at the apostolic see and reserved to Urban VI, who died without disposing thereof, by the death at the said see of John Moubray, notary and chaplain of the said see, and auditor of causes of the apostolic palace; and which, after the present pope's confirmation of the reservation of benefices reserved and left void by Urban VI, the said Thomas—under letters by which the present pope lately ordered provision to be made to him of canonries of York, Salisbury and Wells with expectations of prebends and of a dignity, personatus or office, with or without cure, of one of them—has de facto obtained, believing them to be void by the death of the late John Boor, clerk, who, in succession to others, had had himself intruded by authority of the ordinary, whereas they were really void, as they still are, by the death of Moubray. The provision is made whether they be void as above or otherwise. Upon obtaining the said canonry and prebend his said letters, under which he has accepted them, shall, as far as regards another canonry and prebend of York only, be null and void. Vite ac morum.

Dignum arbitramur.

Collation and provision of a canonry of York, of Salisbury, of Lincoln, of London, of Chichester, with reservation of a prebend of York, of Salisbury, [of Lincoln], of London, and of Chichester, and of a dignity, personatus or office, with or without cure, in one of them, even if such dignity be major or principal, and be elective; notwithstanding that he holds the parish church of Orpynton in the diocese of Rochester. Collation and provision of a canonry of York, of Salisbury, of Lincoln, of Beverley, of Ripon and of Southwell, with reservation of a prebend in each, and of a dignity, personatus or office, with or without cure, in one of Salisbury, Lincoln, Beverley, Ripon and Southwell, even if such dignity be major in Salisbury or Lincoln, or principal in Beverley, Ripon or Southwell, and be elective; notwithstanding that he holds the archdeaconry of Notyngham in York, a dignity, the parish church of Contyngham, the canonries and prebends of Coleworth in Chichester, Preem alias Pipa Minor in Lichfield, and Cudesale in the free chapel royal of Tatenhale, and the hospitals or masterships, without cure, wont to be assigned to secular clerks, of St. Mary Magdalene, Ripon, and St. John Baptist, Notyngham, in the dioceses of York and Lichfield. He is hereby dispensed to hold for ten years such dignity, personatus or office with cure, or another benefice with cure or otherwise incompatible which he may obtain in exchange therefor, together with his said archdeaconry and church or with other two incompatible benefices which he may meanwhile obtain by resigning the same. One of such three incompatible benefices is to be exchanged during the said period for another benefice compatible with the remaining two; otherwise he shall then resign that one of the said three which he shall prefer. Vite etc.
