1424. 6 Kal. May. St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 242.) |
To Michael Ouchtre, bachelor of canon law. Collation and provision to him—who is almoner-general of James, king of Scots, and who lately received papal dispensation, as the son of a priest and an unmarried woman, (i) to be promoted to all, even holy orders and hold a benefice even if it had cure or were a canonry and prebend in a cathedral church, (ii) to hold any other mutually compatible benefices with or without cure, of any number and kind, even if they were canonries and prebends in cathedral churches, and one of them a dignity, not major in a cathedral nor principal in a collegiate church, and to resign them for exchange as often as he thought good, (iii) to hold even such a major or a principal dignity, even if elective—by these presents (which the pope wills to have force as if they had been granted under date 6 Kal. Feb. anno 1, cf. above, p. 370) of a canonry of Glasgow, with reservation of a prebend thereof and of a dignity, not major, personatus etc., even if elective and with cure, and of a benefice with or without cure wont to be assigned to secular clerks, value not exceeding 25 or 18 marks of old sterlings accordingly, in the common or several gift of the bishop and the prior and chapter of St. Andrews; notwithstanding that he holds a canonry and prebend of Dunkeld, and the deanery, a major dignity with cure, of Dunblane, value together not exceeding 30l. sterling; with dispensation to hold for five years with the said deanery such dignity etc. or benefice with cure, after which period, if he do not meanwhile make the usual exchange, he is to resign the said deanery, etc. Further, in future graces concerning benefices which may be granted up to the date of the expedition of these presents, he need not mention these presents.
