To the bishops of Aquila and Dunkeld and the abbot of Lindores (de Londoris) in the diocese of St. Andrews. Mandate as below. Lately, upon the expected voidance of the parish church of Kylmany in the diocese of St. Andrews by the promotion, made by the present pope, and the then future consecration, of James, [now] bishop of Dunkeld, to that church, the pope granted it in commendam to John, bishop of Brechin, to be held by him for life with the church of Brechin; after which, as some allege, the pope granted to the said bishop John a faculty to reserve the said church to his gift and to make collation and provision thereof, or to exchange it for another benefice, or otherwise freely dispose of it. Seeing that, as the pope has learned from the recent petition of king James, the said king believes that such commenda and faculty were the result of sinister information received from the said bishop John, and were otherwise fraudulently obtained, and seeing that, unless a remedy be applied, the said commenda and faculty will be the cause of scandals in Scotland, the pope hereby orders the above to annul the said commenda, and the said faculty, if any, and their consequences, and to collate and assign the said church, value not exceeding 45l. sterling, to Thomas de Spens, a canon of Glasgow, M.A.; whether it became void by the consecration of the above bishop James without the Roman court, or by the resignation of Thomas de Mirton, clerk, or be void in any other way; notwithstanding that the said Thomas de Spens holds a canonry and prebend of Glasgow and the parish church of Kyrckmichel in the diocese of Glasgow, value altogether not exceeding 40l. sterling. The pope hereby dispenses him to hold the said two parish churches together for a year, notwithstanding his late ordinance [see above, p. 5], etc. Within the said year he is to resign one of them for a benefice compatible with the other, or is thereafter to resign Kyrckmichel. Romanus pontifex. (An. and A. de Florencia. | An. xxxx. Tercio Id. Julii Anno Terciodecimo. de Adria.)

To Magonius Olergussa and John Ohanrautdyd, canons, and the chancellor, of Clogher. Mandate (the pope having been informed by Cornelius Osighygi, clerk, of the diocese of Clogher, that John Macibryvn, perpetual vicar of St. Mulua's, Cluayn, in the said diocese, has committed perjury and, when under sentence of excommunication and publicly proclaimed excommunication, has celebrated masses and other divine offices, in contempt of the keys) if Cornelius (who is illegitimate, being the son of unmarried parents, and has been tonsured) will accuse John before them etc. as usual, and if they find the above to be true, to deprive John, and in that event to collate and assign the said vicarage, value not exceeding 5 marks sterling, to Cornelius, whom the pope hereby dispenses, notwithstanding the said defect etc., to be promoted to all, even holy orders and receive and hold the vicarage. Vite etc. (Chri. and G. de Elten. | Chri. xxii. Tercio Nonas Septembris Anno Terciodecimo. Coronen.)

To the abbot of Jeduorth in the diocese of Glasgow. Mandate, at the recent petition of Thomas Wytman, perpetual vicar of Malcar[s]ton in the diocese of St. Andrews (containing that formerly, on the voidance in a certain way of the perpetual vicarage of Wyston in the diocese of Glasgow, Thomas Penven, holding the perpetual vicarage of Carthkert in the said diocese of Glasgow, accepted it within the lawful time by vigour of letters granted by the present pope, and got provision thereof made to him, wherefore, as soon as Penven, in face of the said letters, acceptance and provision, obtains possession of the said vicarage of Wyston that of Carthkert will thereby become void) if the abbot find Vythman (sic) fit, to collate and assign to him the said vicarage of Carthkert, value not exceeding 18l. sterling; notwithstanding that he holds the said vicarage of Malcarston value not exceeding 10l., which, upon obtaining that of Carthkert, he is to resign. Dignum etc. (An. and G. Gonne. | An. xx. Quarto Id. Octobris Anno Terciodecimo. de Adria.) [See above, ƒ. 84d.]

To the archdeacon and provost and John Oculayn, a canon, of Tuam. Mandate—the pope having learned that the perpetual vicarage of the parish church of the Holy Apostles, Kylmeain, in the diocese of Tuam, is void because Philip Macunlynd, perpetual vicar of the parish church of St. Brandanus in the said diocese, then holding that of Kylmeain obtained, collated to him by authority of the ordinary, the perpetual vicarage of the same church of St. Brandinus (sic), and detained thereafter the said vicarage of Kylmeain together with the other vicarage of St. Brandanus, without any canonical title or dispensation for more than three years, as he still does (fn. 7) —to summon the said Philip and others concerned, and to collate and assign the said vicarage of Kylmea[i]n, value not exceeding 3 marks sterling, to David Omullanna, clerk, of the said diocese. Vite etc. (An. and F. de Laude. | An. x. Residuum pro deo. Septimo Kal. Novembris Anno Terciodecimo. de Adria.)

To the archdeacon and Dermit Macgaedagan and Maurice Oconchubair, canons, of Achonry. Mandate to collate and assign to John Ocluman, clerk, of the diocese of Achonry (who was lately dispensed by papal authority, as the son of a priest and an unmarried woman, to be promoted to all, even holy orders and hold a benefice even with cure) the rectory of the rural lands of Offichaire and Benandfada in the said diocese, which is of the patronage of laymen and has cure, value not exceeding 16 marks sterling, so long void, because Thady (Thateus) Ocluman held it for more than a year without being ordained priest and without dispensation, that its collation lapsed to the apostolic see; the said Thady, who still detains it, being summoned and removed, as well as Tassianus Okcarnargh (sic), priest, of the said diocese, who under pretext of certain papal letters accepted and got provision thereof made to him and took certain fruits from it, and also Bernard Ohcara (sic), clerk, of the said diocese, who, falsely asserting that it was void and without cure, took certain fruits from it, as having been collated to him under pretext of other papal letters; notwithstanding that the pope lately ordered provision to be made to John of a benefice with or without cure in the gift of the bishops of Achonry (Akaden.) and Killala (Aladen.) and the deans and chapters etc. of those churches, the letters of which shall, upon his obtaining the above rectory, be null as far as regards a benefice with cure only. John is hereby dispensed to hold the rectory, and to resign it, as often as he pleases, simply or for exchange, notwithstanding the said defect etc. Vite etc. (An. and Jo. de Reate. | An. xxv. de Adria.)

Vite etc. (An. and G. de Elten. | An. xxiiii. Sexto Kal. Augusti Anno Terciodecimo. de Adria.)
