To the abbot of St. Mary's, Cong, in the diocese of Tuam. Mandate as below. The pope lately—upon being informed by Thomas Okellyd, a canon of the Augustinian monastery of Galeang in the diocese of Clonmacnoise (Cluanen.), that Odo Okellyd, prior thereof, had dilapidated its goods and committed simony—ordered Matthew Osyriden, a canon of Clonfert, if the said Thomas would accuse the said Odo before him etc. as usual, to summon Odo, and if he found the above to be true, to deprive him, and in that event to collate and assign the said priory to Thomas. Afterwards the recent petition of John Okellyd, a canon of the priory of St. Mary, Cluanttuascertomane, in the diocese of Clonfert, of the order of St. Augustine alias of Arouaise (ordinis sancti Augustini alias Arragacen.), contained that the said Thomas caused the said Odo to be summoned before the said executor Matthew, who is said to have proceeded, short of a conclusion. Seeing that, as the pope has been informed by the said John, the said Thomas has likewise committed simony, even notoriously and manifestly, is a notorious fornicator, and is accused of other crimes, the pope, hereby calling up the said cause to himself, and absolving the said John, as far only as regards the obtaining effect of these presents, from any sentence of excommunication in any way incurred, orders the above abbot to resume the said cause in the state in which it remained before the said Matthew, hear it further and decide it, and, if the said John (who lately, notwithstanding his illegitimacy, as the son of a priest, a canon professed of the said order, and an unmarried woman, had himself promoted to all, even holy orders, and who from fear of Thomas and Odo's power has no hope of obtaining justice in the city and diocese of Clonfert) will accuse Thomas and Odo before him etc. as usual, to summon Thomas and Odo, and if he find the foregoing to be true, to deprive both Thomas and Odo of the said priory and all right in or to it, and in that event to collate and assign the said priory, conventual and value not exceeding 60 marks sterling, to John, whom the pope hereby specially dispenses, notwithstanding the said defect, to receive and retain it. To Maurice de Cardrose, prior of the Augustinian priory of Inchcolm (fn. 2) in the diocese of Dumblane. Collation etc., as below. His recent petition contained that on the voidance, after the pope's reservation of all conventual priories, of the said priory of Inchcolm, (fn. 3) which is conventual and elective, by the resignation of Patrick de Cardrose to Michael, bishop of Dunblane, the convent, to whom when there are no papal reservations the election by ancient custom belongs, perhaps in ignorance of the said reservation, elected him, and that he, likewise ignorant, consented to the election and had it confirmed by the said bishop, and, under pretext of the said election and confirmation, obtained and is still in possession. The pope therefore makes collation and provision to him, who is a canon thereof, of the said priory, which depends on no monastery or other regular place, and has cure, and whose value does not exceed 50l.sterling, still void as above. To the abbot of Osney in the diocese of Lincoln. Mandate, at the recent petition of John Horwode, a canon of the monastery of St. Mary, Guisborough (de Gyseburnea), in Clevelande, of the order of canons regular of St. Augustine (containing that in his youth he was accused to the prior of incontinence, and from fear of death and prison, but without intent to apostatize, left the said monastery without leave of his superior, and remained without for about three days, being corrected on his return by the said prior on account of the aforesaid) to absolve him from sentences etc. incurred, enjoining penance, dispense him on account of irregularity contracted by celebrating mass and other divine offices or taking part therein, dispense him to minister in his orders and hold any benefices with or without cure of his said order, and rehabilitate him. Decree, at the recent petition of Walter Lyhert, master or warden of the house of St. Anthony, London, of the order of St. Augustine (containing that although the house or chapel of St. Anthony without the walls of York of the said order is dependent on, and is subject and wont to pay a yearly pension to the said house of London, it is doubted by some whether, on the ground of an alleged grant by the pope of leave to transfer the said house or chapel to a place within the walls, there will arise any prejudice to the said house of London or its master or warden as regards such dependence, subjection or pension or other right) that in the event of such transfer being made, there shall arise to the said master or warden and house of London no such prejudice. To Thomas, abbot of the Cistercian monastery of St. Mary, Morgan, in the diocese of Llandaff. Dispensation, at the recent petition of Henry, king of England and Henry, duke of Warwyk—containing that the said abbot has in many ways repaired and restored the monasteries, founded by the said duke's progenitors, of Morgan and Neth, of which latter he was formerly abbot (cui olim ... prefuisti), both in the diocese of Llandaff, alike in the number of their monks and ministers and divine worship, and in their possessions etc.—and at his own petition, to hold in commendam for life with the said monastery of Morgan, value not exceeding 500l.sterling, any other monastery of the said order or other benefice with or without cure, wont to be governed by secular clerks or by regular clerks of the said or other order, even if it be a dignity or a conventual priory etc. or a parish church, of any value, even if elective and with cure. To the bishop and the archdeacon of Kilmore (Triburnen.) and the prior of Lochauactair in the diocese of Kilmore. Mandate (recapitulating the letters by which the pope has this day ordered them to cause Tytheus Macginum, perpetual vicar of the parish church of St. Fylemey, Kylmor, in the diocese of Kilmore, of lay patronage, besides which he holds the perpetual vicarage of St. Bridget's, Nurny, in the same diocese, value not exceeding 8 and 4 marks sterling respectively, to be received as a canon of the Augustinian conventual priory of Druimlean in the said diocese, at present void and therefore reserved, under the pope's late reservation of all conventual priories, by the death of Patrick Offerkeallaych, and to receive his profession, the pope's will being that he should in due course resign the said vicarage of St. Fylemey's), after he has been so received etc., to collate and assign to him, who is of a noble race of princes on his paternal grandmother's side, the said priory, value not exceeding 20 marks sterling; summoning and removing Cormac Magawrakan, a canon of the said order, to whom the pope has recently made provision of the church of Ardagh, and who, under pretext of a collation by the ordinary (dispositionis ordinarie) has unduly detained possession of the said priory for more than five years. The pope grants that Tytheus may hold for life in commendam therewith the said vicarage of St. Bridget, which church is not more than three miles of those parts from the said monastery, being nearer thereto than is St. Fylemey's, Religionis etc. (An. and Ja.
